About the german draw, I dont understand how as hosts we could have gotten so shafted by the knockout stage draw. Normally in a 24 team tournament, of the 6 group stage winners there are a) two who meet a 3rd place team in the ro16, then a 2nd place team in the ro8. b) two who meet a 3rd place team in the ro16, then a 1st place team in the ro8. c) two who meet a 2nd place team in the ro16, then a 1st place team in the ro8. Obviously you'd hope to be drawn in a type a) group, and my impression is that hosts usually get seeded to be in such a group. However we are in a type c) group, and apperently intentionally placed ourselves (?) there even before the draw was made. Also personally and egoistically I'm not very happy that the likely Germany-Hungary grudge match is happening in my home town of Stuttgart. My brother applied for tickets for that match some weeks ago and now am actually kinda relieved he didnt get some. At the rate they are currently going maybe it was deemed more important to get out of the group first ... which doesn't seem to be a given at all.

Against the bigger opponents (e.g. France) Germany is at least able to motivate themselves. Against these mid-tier teams they have been losing almost every game

You can already smell what the ref was betting before the game (a draw!) and wanted to cash in. This cannot be incompetence alone, would not surprise me if there would be a huge referee scandal in the premier league soon.

Especially involving Man City IMO

Atlético was clearly not a good fit for him and they almost killed his career during this summer. As such, it was poetic having him scoring the winning goal with Barça.

Hooper also screwed us in the Spurs Liverpool game as well. The fact that he's now done it for Spurs two biggest games is definitely something to look at with more scrutiny. Also ENDO IS MY LEGENDO! Another Heart Attack FC game.

He is at the current moment the 2nd best coach in the bundesliga after Xabi Alonso. Time will tell if they keep that level over many months. But what he has done with this squad. Suddenly every player looks like top level.

Sheffield United have sacked Paul Heckingbottom after they lost 5-0 to Burnley on the weekend. Chris Wilder is apparently coming back for a second crack.
