For me it’s not an outrage, equally he wasn’t the sole outstanding candidate. Mbappe had a great year, as did Haaland. Although the latter I feel he’s more a great cog in a ruthless machine, which the voting somewhat reflected with 3 City players in the top 5 and 5 in the top 10 It’s an award that bounces around in how much they weigh individual performance, and outstanding achievement as part of a collective. If they could just settle on one criteria I think that would work better.

Don’t get me wrong he had a great year but above those two? The only real robberies IMO are Sneijder in 2010, Ribbery in (2013?) and the year Lewandoski was sure to win it only for Covid to see it cancelled. This year it’s certainly debatable, there isn’t a singular outstanding candidate that’s obvious, but on historical World Cup weighting which always happens Messi’s got a case. Haaland was a goal machine all year, but for me Mbappe and KDB were more influential footballers for their respective sides. Also fuck me Saudi Arabia for 34, really? As I hit adulthood and finally having a little disposable income am I just going to be cursed with World Cups extremely expensive to go to, or ones I actively don’t want to go to?

It's ok, you can go to the combined 2038 extravaganza in Mali, Belarus, Venezuela, El Salvador and Antarctica! Or 2042 in Bahrain!

Haha I’d barely put it past them at this stage. It’s a problem of their own making, pointlessly expanding a World Cup that was pretty much the right size and making it so barely any singular nation can host it, making the format wonky and diluting the quality. Portugal/Spain/Morocco isn’t too bad, I’ve just got zero interest in going to bloomin Gulf States. I’d love to visit other parts of the Arab world for a tournament, just not the petro states that can buy anything but affection. What does England have to do to get one? It’s probably got the most, and most concentrated set of World Cup standard football specific stadiums in the world, plenty of other infrastructure already there.

Bayern has basically the smallest squad out of any first league team in Europe (this might be exaggerated, didn't check ^^). This just couldn't go well

But do they care? How important is the DFB cup for Bayern? Top English teams have a history of not caring at all about the league cup, while the FA up has been considered slightly more important, while the second best teams care more because that's their best chance for a trophy.. I'm asking more than making a statement, here.

It's not the loan that surprised me, it's the obligation to buy. Surely he's worth holding onto?

This just couldn't go well Tuchel is on record that he allowed both Stanisic (to Leverkusen who can play back 4) and Gravenberch (DM/6 who could prolly also play CB if needed to) because he does not need them. This is Tuchel's fault. And DFB Cup is something Tuchel cares nothing for it and Bayern bosses (Uli Hoeness) care quite a bit. Uli always wants to win all the trophies in Germany
