Maybe it should be a team thing. Pick an 11-player team by letter. In that case, M might be in trouble to hold onto first place, because it's ridiculously stacked with forwards, but I can't really think of a stand-out Goalkeeper with M. They got some legendary defenders tho. Maldini and Materazzi come to mind. But with a front three of Maradona, Messi and Mbappe (third spot is up for grabs, can be Müller, or di Maria for the Argentina synergy) I'm not sure you need a legendary goalkeeper

Both B and C have excellence across the field. R seems to have a defense problem. Rüdiger doesn't seem like he's going to cut it.

The offensive lineup for M (someone like Mane isn't even in contention, imo), as well as defense (Mätthaus, Maldini, Marcelo all immediately spring to mind) are broken, but there are weaknesses. Gonna try to make a full lineup of 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 and see how stuff stacks up. So far I'm leaning M B C R as the top 4 at least, but I'm sure there are other contenders.

M is like, Messi Maradona Modric Matthaus Marcelo Maldini Mbappe/Müller (gerd).. there's a goalie missing and two/three midfielders/defenders, but the team basically contains two of the top 3-4 players ever, and every other player on the list has arguably peaked as number one in their particular position.

Even going with a macherano level dm and a relatively mediocre gk (before my time but sepp maier seems like a solid pick) I still think this is a winner.

Eclipse? No. Match? Maybe close...but I read somewhere Haaland will need to score 46 goals/year until he's 38 yo to match Ronaldo's total. A lot can happen before then.

Unlikely, but there's a possibility. I dunno if they're likely to end up in rival clubs though. I don't picture Mbappe going to England, could see both be in Spain at the same time though. But then maybe with RM getting both. xD
