Feels weird to have a world cup and come back to the old footi thread instead of the "New season" thread that is all about transfers and insane amounts of money thrown in a circle

Aha! So it was just the flu that was running rampant in the locker room.
While on the bench, Benjamin Pavard has been making 'inappropriate' remarks about his teammates, especially in the final, where the situation escalated and there were 'big words' between him and the coach. Pavard's attitude created a toxic atmosphere internally
edit: Also Messi was nearly garroted and the entire national team killed by a low cable/power line during the Parade.

There are more people on the streets of Buenos Aires than the entire population of Croatia... the Parade had to be canceled due to so many people. Reportedly already been 3 deaths so far.

Ivan Toney has had another 30 betting breaches added to his charges, now totalling 262 alleged breaches.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been charged over additional alleged breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules, the governing body has announced.
Toney was charged in November with 232 alleged breaches over a four-year period. The 26-year-old has now been charged with breaching FA Rule E8 a further 30 times between 14 March 2017 and February 18 2019. Toney has until 4 January to provide a response.
In a statement on the club’s website, Brentford said they had been informed of the additional charges, adding: “Our private discussions with Ivan and his legal representatives on this matter continue.” The Guardian article
Be interesting to see just how harsh a punishment he gets if found guilty. Sturridge got a 4 month worldwide ban for four charges (per BBC) and Trippier got 10 weeks for 4 charges (per BBC) but both of those were for insider trading on potential transfers. 262 is a lot of illegal bets, if they were on/against his own team it would probably be a bigger story.

Yeah it depends on the specifics. If he's done stuff like betting on himself getting booked, they will absolutely crucify him, and I do remember he got some bookings for stupid stuff like throwing the ball away and arguing with the ref.

Well, his sponsorship deal with Saudi Arabia hasn't ended either, it would make sense he still plays when he promotes them.

City vs Pool was fun. Nunez is a hack, Haaland is a beast, both Palmer for City and Carvalho for Liverpool show real promise.
Was good to see Ox get some minutes finally, he's one of my favourite players for a long time. Could have been a great if his body held up

Guy is literally night and day to what he was. He was utterly awful at his end product and now he is doing everything, defending well and end product right up there with the best wingers in form right now.
