TBH I don't see us challenging for the title under Ole and the squad has massively overperformed this season. If no decent signings are made I think this squad will regress next season. Hopefully I'm wrong though and we do get some good signings in.

Both keepers were close to saving a penalty though. Some of these penalties were really great and no keeper would have a chance to save them anyway.

I wonder what is it about Zidane (or the job) that he just doesn't seem to settle into the Real job? Everything screams that he'd be a good manager there, has references both as player and manager like very few others (at RM specifically) and character that doesn't seem to just about ever feel the media pressure and attention.

My first guess is that there is too much pressure to deliver results right at the very moment rather than cultivating some longevity, but that's quite typical in most top clubs nowadays. Another good guess is that there are too many other people pulling the strings into different directions, essentially restricting Zidanes ability to take the squad into a direction he'd like.

Maybe integrity > money in this case, doesnt want to play for a club that wants to separate themself because they have so much more money and form this abomination of a super league? Would be a great move but I doubt its because of that.

It’s a nice gig but the pressure must be absolutely insane. The Madrid football bubble and press make the English coverage look tame and measured. Plus Perez is clearly a dick. No amount of legend status will insulate you for too long, ffs Cristiano Ronaldo was getting booed at the end of his spell.

Conte maybe? He’s got a tune out of Hazard in the past which must count for something. I get the feeling Allegri is trapped in some kind of unemployment hell where he’s a top 3/4 candidate for every big job going but never gets offered one.

THE YELLOW SUBMARINE! Not quite as thrilling a vintage as when Riquelme was pulling the strings, but this one got the trophy.

Really happy for Unai Emery too, seems a good man and he got absolutely shit on by many comets when at Arsenal

To me it feels like Zidane didn't really want to go into another rebuild season with the current board. With Ramos leaving, Modric aging, Hazard struggling and all that, you're either in for a few year project (and need cooperation from the board) or it's better to let someone take over.

That being said, I'm not sure if the rumored Juventus would be any better. Maybe he's got some guarantees on transfer activity or so.

Zidane came into a super failing Real Madrid, won the league title and almost won another league title in the weirdest times football has ever seen (corona). For me this is a total success and I am happy that hes leaving so his legacy wont be tarnished by the horrible Real board

I wouldn't be surprised if Zidane has cracked the shits about his sons not being "given enough opportunites".

Zidane has 4 sons all of whom are in or went through the Real Madrid academy. The two eldest have been moved on by the club without playing for the first team and his third son Theo only got picked twice for the U19s this season.
