I think my heart could handle them falling at the final hurdle again if only for another underdog in West Ham being in the mix. Newcastle though, baffling. I can’t think of many teams so seemingly bad or average at best across so many areas that have reached safety relatively comfortably. They aren’t as resolute and well drilled at a certain style as a Burnley, they aren’t a dysfunctional team full of enough stars that they pull out wins regardless. Perhaps my opinion is swayed by Newcastle fans, but god what a depressing limbo team they must be to support. Not good enough to make a cup run or be fun to watch of a week, but not bad enough for an exciting relegation scrap, or even a drop down in division to be fighting for that title.

Championship started the final day with 3 points separating the bottom 4. Two of them, Sheffield Wednesday and Wayne Rooney's Derby County, are playing each other. Not only are Wednesday winning, but both of the other two are also winning, meaning Wayne Rooney's Derby County are going down edit: They just turned it around in 5 minutes and now they are safe as things stand.

Spurs almost definitely cannot qualify for Champions League now.

Atletico seems to have better goal diff, but I think Real has advantage on head-to-head matches. I believe the first tie breaker in La Liga is actually head to head. Also Lewandowski is now at 39 goals with Bundesliga games left this season. Would take something big for him not to break Gerd Müller's record now. If he didn't get injured playing for Poland he'd already be well above 40.

Their match today against Sevilla is very important.

Yeah I’ve been following that almost more closely than the title race as I never really thought Bayern would lose it this season. Stunning achievement if he can do it, I wonder if it’ll be enough to get him the Ballon d’Or, perhaps in combination with the feeling he really should have won it but for cancellation.

Basically the list of players playing in a top 5 league with more than 1 goals+assist per game this season (at least from league play) is: Lewandowski, Haaland, Mbappe, Kane and Messi. It's a good bunch of players for sure. But none of them are winning more than 1 major trophy - it's somewhat likely that Lewandowski is the only one who even gets that. And then his 1.70 G+APG absolutely dwarfs Haaland's 1.15 (the second best). I just looked. If we were to compile a list from the top 5 leagues - PL, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and Bundesliga, and we look at average goals+assists per game, then the gap between #1 and #2 is actually bigger than the gap between #2 and #50.
