I'd say Claude Lemieux was the NHL equivalent of Jimmy Butler. I think he wore 22 as well. In '95 I think Lemieux scored 5 goals the entire regular season; he then went on to win MVP of the playoffs and score more goals than any other player in the playoffs while playing on defense-first "goalie team".

The Lakers are still the same lakers that had to go to a play in game. They are highly dependent on an erratic AD and an erratic set of role players around AD and Lebron. That huge variance means they can go on a heater and win against the Warriors, or they can be mr poopybutt for 30 straight games.

In the playoffs they are #1.

With wildcards//unknowns like Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown spouting off about various events that are political minefields the on court signage would've become part of a narrative that might have led to a "Bud Light moment". The top people running the NBA are absolute geninuses.

In retrospect, the NBA's decision to remove the "Black Lives Matter" insignia occurred at just the right time. They kept some players, some fans, and some loud activists placated while avoiding any kind of "Bud Light" backlash. The NBA only got away with BLM stuff is because almost no one else is even a fan anymore (driven away before).

Heat guards are dropping like flies and Lowry still can't crack to starting line up. We'll see if ole yeller has got one more good game left in him. To be fair to Lowry ... his %'s don't look great but the level of difficulty of his 3s is quite high.

The NBA and NBAPA have managed to walk a difficult tight rope. the MLB and MLBPA failed. Silver and Stern have done a way better job than Selig and Manfred. NBAPA >> MLBPA. MLB baseball is floundering while NBA basketball is flourishing. I'd say its well deserved for both leagues. Look at how well the NBA has developed the G-League while MLB and MLBPA have fucked minor league baseball into the ground. The NBA and NBAPA do a much better job of putting their conflicting interests aside to make sensible compromises whereas the MLB and MLBPA can't see the forest through the trees as they fight forever. and Hey I was born in Canada... so I admire and good negotiation and compromise. Perhaps, I have a location bias as I've watched basketball in general become Toronto's #1 sport and winning out over hockey and baseball.

The viewers are so numb from all the bs that we simply don't see it anymore. "Black history month. EVERY MONTH!" It's like a constant noise in the background at this point. It would take something insanely inappropriate and/or moronic to wake us up.

my mind says Lowry will be "meh" tonight. My heart wants him to score 26 points have 10 assists and 3 steals like he did in the 2019 championship clincher. Go Kyle Go! The NFL still is beating both by trying to avoid social issues as much as they can. The LA Dodgers are currently having their own little Bud Light moment. And the bodies are piling up... Roberto Osuna... Trevor Bauer....

MLB totally fucked over its entire minor league system paying players less than minimum wage while the NBA did a great job developing the G/D League from nuttin. Considering MLB has a century of experience maintaining their minor league system its pretty bad that they are getting outdone by the NBA. MLB has mishandled both Bauer and Osuna. and the NHL. Joel Quenneville, Stan Bowman, Harold Ballard. just sad and pathetic. There is no point in comparing the NBA's track record with the NHL. anyhow, back to basketball.... the Heat need Vincent back. Lowry starting with 3 turnovers and 0 assists can no longer be the starting point guard on a playoff team. sigh.
