When I lived in Canada I paid ~ $1200 per year for extended medical benefits. I got a bit of a deal because one of my customers offers extended medical benefit packages to companies with less than 500 employees. The private sector portion of Canada's system is excellent. It's a great system and better than the USA's private system. Generally speaking, for all forms of Insurance Canada is better run , better organized and less corrupt than the USA. This has been true for the entire history of the insurance industry in North America. One of my customers is an Actuary and runs a Casualty Actuarial Consulting firm.. this is how I find out all this crap about insurance. I moved from St. Catherines, Ontario , Canada to Cheektowaga, New York 18 months ago. Currently, my US Health coverage is with Aetna. I'm happy with it, but it is expensive. For sports injuries I still go to the same Sports Injury clinic in Canada I went to before moving to the USA. People in Ontario, Canada go to New York state all the time and pay cash to get medical procedures done because of backlogs in Ontario. If they didn't do this they'd walk around for a year with torn knee ligaments and be forced to wear a knee brace. Generally, Ontario is still better than New York. However, it varies on a case by case basis. In some situations New York is better. And, in the USA you can spend your way out of any issue. Ontarians spend their way out of bottlenecks in the system by driving the Buffalo New York and getting it done there. Buffalo MRI is a favourite spot for Torontonians to go for their MRI http://buffalomri.com/ This is just 1 example .. there are many others. EDIT: Speaking of injuries... Jeremy Lamb hit the injury trifecta ... meniscus tear, knee ligament tear, fracture. Really bad landing. Hopefully, Dr. Sutterer will cover this one in detail. The Raptors play a rough style with their "defensive hustle" ...and hurt a lot of guys.. and they get hurt themselves as well. | ||
