It's very simple: If the demand is there as you claim, the supply will follow, that's basic economics. I disagree however, viewer numbers for league games even at the highest level are still very low, which is why there is so little infrastructure. As long as the world cup is all that people watch, investors won't bother.

I don't like watching lower division games since there's already so much content to watch nowadays (and not only football), and women's football is basically that. I don't think they'll ever be at a "watchable level" for me either because of obvious physical differences. Some might disagree with me obviously, but the interest for women CL games (highest level of the sport) right after a successful world cup show that there isn't that much demand. It might change, but for example we've had both gender 100m dash for a while, but the women's one never makes the news. The opposite can be said for gymnastics. And I don't think it's a bad thing, it's just that people want to see the most performing athletes.

If we are to consider women football as a different discipline (and we do because we have separate competitions), it should be considered the same as another sport and forcing a club to have another sport division is dumb.

I will gladly accept us drawing to Watford if it also means Spurs lose to them at home

I've read the most disturbing thing today. It seems UEFA will force clubs that are on the CL to have a womans team as well.

Wtf....

Anyone seen anything regarding this? From the reports it even seems it is to be implemented quite soon as well.

Why is that disturbing ?

Forcing clubs to have unrelated squads is not disturbing? Forcing clubs to stress their already tight budget to have a squad that will have zero impact on the team's perfomance in that competition is normal?

It's roughly the same as saying that next year you need a cycling team to be able to take part in CL.

This is not the same as having youth squads from the same sport that can actually have an impact in the team in the present or future. Unless football becomes a mixed sport, this is a disturbing rule.

If you want to grow the women's game and be able to offer female footballers better opportunities and wages in the future this is a fantastic rule.

Remember women are still trying to catch up having been banned from playing competitive football for decades.

If you want to do that, which is perfectly fine if you want to, offer incentives for clubs that have female teams. Dont force clubs to do such a thing in order to be allowed to play. That is just wrong.

My comment has nothing to do with woman......for the misogyny smartypants comment Rebs, you usually write from your very high horse but as often, failed to grasp the issue.

I get your point. My high horse is not high. Your point of view is so far low in the ground it seems that way.

You can pretend thats not what you are doing all you want, tell yourself that. Tell yourself that its because there isnt as much interest in their game, its because they arent as good, or as interesting, or have as much demand.

Tell yourself all of these things and pretend that this is not a disgusting thing to think that its "disturbing" that clubs are being forced to invest in the other gender. Rich clubs that can afford it easily. And any club making the CL can make provisions for it. There is no such thing as a budget too tight to support womens play. Dont give me that bullshit.

No one is saying pay them as much as men, or pay them exceptional wages on par with men. All it says is. Have a team and support women at the highest level possible.

If that 'disturbing' to you then pick up a newspaper once in a while and maybe if you read actually 'disturbing' things going on in the world. This will atleast seem like a minor annoyance then something thats actually 'disturbing.'

I think the comparison to other sports fails because the infrastructure you'd need for a women's team is already there. It's the same sport with same rules, tactical knowledge and so on. It's just carried out by different people.

Edit: Also, bayern lol

That looked like they had somehow fielded a full lineup of Ronaldinhos. They make it look so effortless.

Then second half they showed how fragile they are at the back. They are not going to be title contenders i don't think this season unless Laporte makes a miraculous recovery in time and they go full win streak mode after he returns.

Got out to watch Qingdao Huanghai yesterday for the first time and couldn't have had a much better experience. We got to the game way too early so thought we could kill time by hiking a nearby mountain. The mountain was sick but there's also loads of Japanese fortifications and a small cave network to explore so that was all pretty fun. After we made out way down and paid the incredible sum of 30 qui to get into the stadium we took a wrong turn and some how ended up in a ballet school that is for some reason in the satdium. Lots of confusion all around but we managed to leave the ballet academy find some beer and popcorn and settle down for a tense end of season game. Yaay Toure was awesome. He's not got the pace anymore but he's always moving into space and making himself available a couple of times you could tell there was a gap and he wanted to dart into it but just can't anymore. But he put on a great performance. Qingdao got the break through and won the game 1:0 but they were lucky as the Beijing side had at least three really good chances that were all wasted. Qingdao need only one more win from their final 2 games to get promoted now.

Meanwhile back home Exeter got hammered away to Cambridge. So I'm not going to talk about that.

What the hell is going on with Spurs? They are falling apart. Their next league game is Liverpool aswell isn't it?

+1 on the Sterling assist. Lovely stuff.

Ole Gunnar decides to throw his values out the window and plays 5 at the back parking the bus. They might have a chance at some points now, but its like 30% chance instead of 1% xD
