Besides, that OSU could be regarded as a No. 1 isn't exactly an uncommon point of contention among the talking heads and beat writers. For the first season in a while the Buckeyes have actually demonstrated a ton of reach on both sides of the ball, rather than limping along on slim margins of victory for much of the season. Granted, I'd never count the signature awkward Buckeyes loss out at this point in the season, but it's hyperbole to suggest that putting them first is some inconceivable result.

OSU has 1 top 25 win, its against a team that no national champion from the BCS era would lose against, and it's at home.

Deciding what the committee does and does not reward by arranging rankings in a certain way is bad history, particularly during seasons in which the top four teams have good claims to the top for reasons that don't boil down into simple strength of schedule and head to head reasons.

Foles is coming back after the bye Houston has a crappy secondary, GM, situational coaching staff, and you can pass the ball on them when they force you to Jacboy Brisset is out god knows how long with his knee injury Titans going all in with Tanihill at QB Jags only 2 games behind a Colts team rocking a 3rd string QB and 1 game behind a Texans team who lost Clowney and Watt. Minchew did a decent job of holding down the fortress.

I was referring to Pat McAfee's & Rex Ryans assertions of blaming Matt Nagy for the Bears struggles instead of Mitchell. Critics will look at last season where Mitch's play helped them win the division and got home field advantage for the playoffs before they credit Matt Nagy for developing the plays that allowed Mitch to be successful during the 2018-19 season. Chicago's front office and fans will be saying "If mitch isnt doing what he did last season, whos stopping him from preforming at last seasons level?" and the blame will fall on the coaching staff.

The team’s season may be in jeopardy as well if the NCAA sees fit to retroactively disqualify. I’d be very surprised if the NCAA vacated OSU’s season this year - but then again the full story and all the details haven’t come out yet.
