Perez though, driver of the day for me. Absolutely dominant to win the race. Last to first from Perez.

Sergio was bumped by Leclerc, had to pit on the first lap, restarted p18 and fucking won the race. Driving a clean race on this track is not an achievement and its the whole luck around pit stops/safety cars thats pretty disappointing. Sure not his fault, but not his effort either. Sainz Russel, Albon even Riccardo and Kvyat had a more impressive drive, but ok it is what it is...

Gutted for Russell. That was his race. He just couldn't catch a break. First he has engine issues, then he had that entire pitstop disaster that might get him DSQed, and then he got a puncture. He himself did nothing wrong the whole race and I would say comfortably outdrove Bottas. It was purely down to Mercedes making uncharacteristic mistakes and bad luck. I do think this race has left Bottas's reputation in tatters. His 3 years of experience driving that Mercedes wasn't able to allow him to beat a guy dropped into the seat 4 days ago. Russell had a better start, had better pace, and actually was able to take advantage of the car much more than Bottas. Similarly, this race hasn't helped Hamilton with the whole "the car is winning him championships" thing because if Russell was performing how he did today over the last few years at Mercedes, he'd probably have just as many championships as Hamilton does. At the end when he was on softs, it looked like Russell was driving a different class of car than everyone. He was basically highway passing people and making up a second or two a lap.

Cant wait for Max, George and Charles to battle it out in 3 top cars on the field. Im pretty tired of the toothless drivers who only complain and expect things to fall in their hands. The only downside is that we need to wait until 2022 for major changes on the grid.

He got screwed by strategy on the first pit stop, went from 2s behind to 8s behind despite having an equally long pitstop. But he was closing that gap, went from 8s to 5s relatively quickly when suddenly the VSC happened and he was forced to go back out on used tyres that had cooled down for almost a minute. Without the VSC I think he catches up and wins but we'll never know. Huge fuckup by Mercedes and some unfortunate bad luck for Russell on the puncture too, what a cursed race.

Bottas was definitely quicker in the second stint but I doubt he would have been able to pass Russel.
