It's always a trade-off between running the car low enough to gain an aerodynamic advantage from the floor, vs rubbing the skid plate too much. He needs: to win the race and Norris to be 4th or worse, knowing that Mc Laren would swap Norris and Piastri if necessary and that Mercedes will probably help Mc Laren, who is a client team, if necessary. If Norris DNF, he needs Piastri not to win the race. Mc Laren is score faster than anyone else as it stands and Piastri absolutely excels on high downforce tracks. I give Norris 75% chance, Max 15% and Piastri 10%. Will still be extremely exciting. | ||

I said Max needs cars between him and Lando and used Merc as an example because they are the most capable to do so. | ||

Lando had a DNF a while back that gave momentum back to Piastri, and he’s really responded phenomenally when there were question marks over his mental strength, he crushed it. Then we had the double DQ last time out, leaving things finely, finely poised. Max is of course Max and a phenomenon, don’t think that’s in dispute! It does feel like it’d be really harsh if Lando didn’t pull it off, in these particular circumstances though. | ||
