Earlier today Sporting was accused of buying referees in handball during last season with proofs taken from whatsapp conversations. The handball team will most likely lose the championship and be demoted to the 2nd division. Since this was not enough, just two hours ago 50 hooded sporting supporters (allegedly managed by sporting president) entered the sporting training facilities and transformed it into a war zone. They broke Bas Dost head in two places, and physically assaulted multiple players and technical staff. The players are most likely filing for the termination of their contract. At least is what's everyone talking at the moment. Keep tuned for more in the second part of this season finale Yeah, I read it on the Dutch news. If I were Dost I would get the fuck out of there.

I'm rooting for that solution. They should close shop and Benfica should be included in the spanish league. I don't care for the rest.

All the time you think this episode actually has to be the finale. But this Sporting arc is just truly insane.

The problem here is that this isn't necessarily because of that. The players are against the president for quite a while now. And the president is an egomaniac psychopath with delusions of grandeur. He used to be part of an ultra group before being president. The theory is that he sent the hooligans to shake things a bit and pressure the team and technical team and it went wild because you can't really control animals. The "ultra movement" isn't that strong in Portugal. It's nothing when you compare it with Poland, Turkey or Greece. The problem here are the people that run the clubs... And I don't know how this is gonna end for sporting. But everyone see something coming. This president is completely crazy and cocaine fueled. Let's hope that this stops here.

And then it's just a silly metric because the invincibles happened so early in PL history that it became impossible to break the record. The answer is 4, though. Both to how many teams have broken most points record in pl, and to how many teams have broken least losses record. Maybe it looks slightly different if you start calculating after they went from 22 to 20 teams but I don't care enough. :D I don't really think the achievements need to be compared, they're both fantastic. We've decided to reward winning more than drawing, I guess to incentivize attacking football, but that's a bit arbitrary, so the point record is, too. But even under a 2 point per win 1 point per draw ruleset, this City would have ended up 4 points ahead of the invincibles. To me though the main thing is how convincingly dominant they've been. Invincibles were saved by Henry magic in many games, and if you only look at the games they won, they won by an average of 1.8 goals. City this season on average wins by 2.4 goals, and they've been remarkably independent of individual players. What I like is how the team as a whole played so well. Everyone contributed. The team was not reliant on a crazy in form player like Henry, hazard, cr7, drogba etc. The whole squad delivered, no one really stood out.

Call me old school but I'd prefer a list divided by GK, Defenders, Midfielders and Forwards haha. Anyway is just me or is there very little midfield creativity in this side?

My guess is that there are noone from wc2002, only CR7 from euro2004 and ~20 players from wc2006 are still playing. edit: wow rafael marquez started 1997 but he wasn't in wc1998 squad so it seems he is the only one from wc2002.
