equalize the game with that fighting spirit,overall playing a good match and then making that stupid mistake in the last second,yes sure anyone can understand Buffon.but the penalty is clear.

actually id take that from anyone else other than Buffon though... i know its easier said than done but out of all Juve players he should be the one keeping his calm, not only as the most experienced player and captain of the team, but also as their main goallie... its not over until the fat lady sings... even for Ronaldo its still a huge penalty to take...

while i understand his reaction and id probably do the same or even worse in his position but i probably expected a lot more from Buffon...

I really hate in football how the players are able to get up in the face of refs so aggressively. I get it’s a big game with a lot on the line but the reaction from the Juve players was a disgrace and more of them should have been sent off. Terrible look for the game imo.

It's a penalty, Benatia pushes him from behind; it's well played by Vasquez. It's sad because I think Buffon is so close that he could have gotten the ball without Benatia's intervention, or at least block most angles from the shot. But then again, Juventus players were most likely too exhausted to win in the overtime. I don't get why they started turtling after their 3rd goal. Yes, maybe play safer, but it's AN HOUR from the penalty shootouts.

I didn't watch the game (not sure I'll watch any of the remaining games, I'm still so sore from Barça's game haha) but it's really surprising to me that Real almost threw their 3-0 lead. They were warned by Barça's result, they were at home, and 3-0 didn't even eliminate them. From the highlights, I can see that at least they created a lot of chances, not like Barcelona.

It's crazy how many big games Madrid has won after the 80th minute (including overtime). Just this year, first leg against Paris and this one. They look like crap for 6 months, but then come February they're all in the shape of their lives, Ronaldo being the best example.

Question for you guys, what's most important... winning the CL or the domestic league? The Champions League is overall more prestigious, but it's also a lot more 'random'. A bad day and you're out; while for the league you have a good chance of winning it by playing well consistently. Chelsea in 2013 is a great example of why winning it doesn't mean you're the best team in Europe. Atletico was 1mn away from winning it, but now everyone will remember it as Real's 10th CL, everyone will forget the loser after a few years, regardless of how it happened. You can also have the easiest draw (Bayern this year? Real 2 years ago), bad ref decisions (f$ckin disgrace haha), important injuries (Bayern vs Barça 3 years ago), ... So many random elements that are evened out over a league season.

Would you be in favor of a super league where you have to play every big team in Europe? It'd be more fair in my opinion, but even if I hate that randomness in the CL, I'm still, somehow, always excited about these games

CL should stay. In a super league we'd just have the same dominance of a few teams (real, barca, Bayern) but then even worse. It's very popular in the StarCraft community to hate at randomness and reward the most skilled but quite frankly that makes the sport stale and boring. Roma knocking Barca out makes for a great storyline. There's a reason why the EPL is the most fun league at the moment.

I want a super league fuck it. I'd rather see top quality matches every week and a real way to decide the best team in Europe, the UCL just doesn't do that. The UCL could still run alongside it. Promotion/relegation would be a real mindfuck to figure out, but it would create great stories if a minnow hit the superleague.

I'm sure it will happen in the next 20 years considering it's in teams like Bayern, Barca, Real and PSG's best interests.

Yeah i can understand the draw of CL, but a super league would give you alot of top matches week in week out. Issue would be from the English side, you get different teams "qualify" into said super league every season as the top 4 is competitive. Unless they just throw the league together in say 4-6 tiers now from the ranking points they have and give promotion relegation. Then scrap the "top 4" qualification systems in the leagues. However the leagues would probably hate that to, as it is literally just battling for top spot every year domestically with nothing else on the line other than relegation.
