The issue for me is summed up by Charlie Nicholas on soccer saturday. 1. Wenger's ideas and playstyle are 10 years old (found it) 2. Players are a joke with no spine
I can't find the video yet but if it comes up i'll post it but it was very good. Talks about those two points in detail more but they are the two points. Wenger played exactly the same way for 10 years, it's to naive, he hasn't changed at all. He is found out, everyone knows how to play vs Arsene Wenger's sides. He hasn't had a spine in his team since Viera and co which is another problem. Then the players point, they all had a meeting around December without the manager saying its time to fight dig deep and whatever. Now look where they are, 2 months later and they still getting embarrassed week in week out without any fight, they clearly don't care.

Arsenal had the best record vs top teams last season. If what you are saying were true, how did that come to pass?

All I am saying is that your claims don't hold true. Wenger hasn't been "figured out". I also believe if football were a honest sport Arsenal would perform much better. They really get cheated by refs more than other teams.

Thats bullshit lol. Last night decision was 100% fine, by letter of law he denied a clear goalscoring attempt without playing the ball, he pushed Lewa to the floor via his back no shoulder barge. They are not losing big games week in week out because of referee decisions.
If what you say is true, they have shit referee's between December and February every season for last 4-5 years.
Arsenal are stagnated and it's the players and manager's fault but in this game the manager can be replaced whereas 15 players cannot.

About away ticket prices in CL in general and in London in particular. Example was Munich €60 v London £75 I think.

Lewandowski was offside

Ok then so that offside penalty and red card decision was unlucky. Why did they lose 5-1 in Allianz? Why did they lose 3-1 to a crap Liverpool side. Why did they lose the last 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Times in the round of 16 in champions league?
2010-11 -- barca loss 4-3 agg (3-0 away defeat) 11-12 -- AC Milan loss 4-3 agg (4-0 defeat away) 12-13 -- Bayern 3-3 away goals loss (3-1 away defeat) 13-14 -- Bayern 3-1 agg 14-15 -- Monaco 3-3 away goals 15-16 -- Barca 5-1

For me the bigger question is how they did get to the Ro16 the last 7 times in the first place?
|
arsenal havent been "found out" they destroy teams on their good days and probably would do well against big teams too if they didnt choke so much. the only problem with arsenal is their weak mentality. they do crappier vs big teams for the same reason they dont win the league. they lack the mental attributes to pull off wins when it matters. it has nothing to do with wenger's football style and the way he sets teams up. i for one love how arsenal play and they are easily my 2nd most favourite team in the league after united

Chokers lol. I just saw the highlights again. Stupid mistakes led to the goals lol. They just crumbled. Same thing happened in Munich. Players are to blame, AW chief culprit because he is the manager and stubbornly refuses to change the team/approach when its not working.
Also why ospina playing in goal instead of cech lol

Getting to Ro16, finishing top4 is not good enough for them. Board is happy, fans want trophies, but hey its 2017 and football is a commercial farce and only money matters and thats why they will never sack Wenger. Only way he goes is if he resigns himself.

When asked if he thinks the Arsenal players are playing for the manager, he said: "It feels as if they are not and that tells a story. But then again I'm not letting the players off the hook as easy as that.
"If that's the case they are not even playing for themselves which is a bigger crime than anything because these are the same guys, who a couple of months ago were telling us they were a good bunch, spirited and got on well.
"In December they had a hardship, had a meeting and sorted it all out. They didn't even invite the manager, he didn't know because they sorted it. Who is sorting this now then?"
And Nicholas thinks Wenger, who he called tactially naive, looks like a man who is running out of ideas as he looks to avert his side's recent slump.
"He's always tactically naive," Nicholas said. "He doesn't work enough on the other side of the game. And the game has passed him by because the genius he brought to this country has been caught up.
"Other people have identified different systems and they go for it with different principles. When it works it's fabulous but it stopped working a long time ago.
"It's easy to identify things to break it and now it's broken, there are no players in there that can fix it.
"The manager is now looking like he hasn't got the ammunition to fix it."
This is the written version of what Charlie Nicholas said last night which is what i think is the situation. He also said this morning that Wenger and the club have to make a decision NOW on whether they want Wenger to stay or if they wont renew his deal. Do not wait that is the worst thing to do

"but it stopped working a long time ago."
Weird how they keep finishing top4 then? How bad must the premier league be if tactics that "stopped working a long time ago" still wins trophies and gives stellar league positions?

My question was: How did Arsenal manage to go so far with mostly bad squad? I could never bring these players to top4 if I were to play football manager. They are just not good enough

How is there squad bad? And yes finishing top 4 every year is an achievement but physcially winning 1 trophy or 2 fa cups in 17 years or whatever seems rather shite. I'll take skipping champions league once if it meant 3 premier league titles, 1 champions league title etc

How far is Arsenal from paying their new stadium? Things were not bright before but it certainly aggravates their problems. I also believe they have rather healthy money managements compared to the European big clubs (Bayern excluded).

Their squad is full of 2nd tier French, Spanish and English players.
Who in their squad would be starters in clubs like Bayern, Chelsea? Sanchez, Özil - that's it.

I don't understand...are you implying that Wenger had no input on the players Arsenal have signed over the last decade? This is his squad and he chooses not to spend more money because of his background in economics.
