Aguero's challenge was so bad it was hilarious rather than shocking. But man, fernadinho looked like a real idiot.

Btw what Aguero did wasn't a surprise at all, I was waiting the whole match for him to blow up like in 2013: ![]()

One thing I'm sure is that Barça is the team that decides the outcome of these games against Real. First half, they play without their head (same as against City in the 2nd half or the game vs Real Sociedad) and try to be too vertical, missing tons of passes in areas they shouldn't. In the second half, the goal and Iniesta changed everything and you could see Real had no solution to score and could have received a few more goals easily. I think Luis Enrique's first year's team was much better because they still had Xavi for big games. Iniesta has since been the only one in the midfield with enough experience to slow things down when needed. I wonder what's going to happen when he retires because none of the other midfielders have this type of intelligence coupled with "weight" in the locker room. Maybe they could play with another more defensive midfielder and have Busquets play similarly to Xavi.

Zidane is doing a good job imo, but he's not a pure "tactician". It looks a lot like Ancelotti's Real (he was his assistant so I guess it's not a coincidence). First half, I can't say for sure if Madrid was really playing that much better than Barça or if Modric wasn't just making it look like it by himself. You can hardly say that when Real was missing one of the top2 players (Kroos). 2nd half Barca obviously looked better because Real had to give them more space. Imo both Barca and Real are far away from their peaks currently. Real's average is just on a higher level atm.

I guess you're right about the average level comparison, but I think it's because Real's gameplan is easier to execute. They're the ones waiting behind. Then in the second half when they had to score, they didn't look good at all going forward.

I rather think Real was totally content with getting a draw against Barca in the away game. Especially with the lead in points they already have all they needed was that Barca does not win. There was no reason to risk more.
