Interestingly, Ajax is financially completely sound, and doesn't have too much to complain about in the sporting achievement department (although this season is looking quite lackluster, with the early elimination from the cup, and looking to be kicked out of the Europa league before Christmas too). It just seems like organizationally it is a complete nightmare. I disagree with the report that the transfers were bad. There were a few missers, a few winners, a load of decent support and width buys, and quite a few young players who may or may not make it into the first team. Either way, the only high profile buy was Sinkgraven, who I think will turn out just fine. The big misser I guess is Duarte, who was not cheap, and has turned out miserably. Still, compared to high profile buys like Mido, Sulejmani and Machlas in the past, Duarte is a big step up ![]()

edit: http://www.vi.nl/nieuws/cruijff-trekt-handen-af-van-plan-cruijff-en-ajax.htm. Cruijff wants out at Ajax and refuses to put his name on the 'plan' any longer. According to him, his 'strategy' hasn't been followed for years - and intentionally so. "I don't want to participate in these games".

Biggest problem is that all these ex-football players (generally not the smartest bunch around) are taking up all the managerial positions and start bickering over everything, and blaming each other for 'mistakes'. Mix in a couple decent managers who can behave like adults and create some structure and the problem is gone. I agree. I don't get why ex-footballers have to fill in all the managerial positions. It used to be that there were almost no ex-football players but now it's almost only ex-football players. There has to be a compromise. Anyway it's Ajax. We'll always have drama and it will always leak out. I am not too worried. edit: It's also hilarious that La Ling advises a neutral chairman / adviser for the TH and then says he's available hmself as a candidate while not even mentioning anyone else.

Head of regional police was on TV and announced they had a serious thread that there was going to be an attack on the stadium today. Suitcase is only a rumour right now. Police thoroughly searched the stadium this afternoon and there are massive controls at the entrances, it would be a huge problem if there is that suitcase slipped through.
