Probably half of the world cups have been outright bought. I don't think Japorea was nor USA 94...but France 98 and on I believe the bribes have been outlandish. I can't find a link for the story from the 2006 vote, but if I find one I will add it. Charles Dempsey was the delegate and Wikipedia does say that he abstained because of "intolerable pressure" even though he was instructed to vote for South Africa. Germany beat South Africa 12-11...his vote would have tied it and at the time I think Blatter casted the tie breaking vote and he was for South Africa. | ||
