I was working up to a heavy double. Smashed 140kg for a double which was my old PR for a single. My buddy said "you looked good for 150kg" so I said fuck it and loaded it and did it lol.

At 94kg weight class at the olympics, 150 is higher than 5 of the 18 competitors were able to lift, and the best American "only" lifted 160kg. That's hella cool. edit: Also, laugh at me all you want guys, you know there's truth to it ^^

I have no idea how my body works. I should have been in good shape to hit heavy weights on saturday but only worked up to 123 snatch and 145 CJ. Couldn't even rack 150 clean. Body felt like shit on Sunday. Yesterday I'm feeling pretty meh, just going through the motions, hit a solid 120kg snatch but missed 125 three times. Start doing CJ, figure I'll stop around 145, but the weights kept going up. Hit 155 for the first time in almost two months and then said fuck it and went for 160kg for the first time in a year almost exactly.

I am pretty sure Vit D does not do anything this drastic nor does it act this quickly.

Colds do mess up your lifting, and your focus, but definitely possible to fight through them and work/school. Anyway, on my end workouts still progressing well, I think yesterday was my 11th workout without missing one, this consistency is definitely paying off in my lifts (I know slightly under a month of consistent workouts is nothing that impressive, but I've been struggling). Deadlift 10lbs up from last week to 325lb now (6 reps), so that was good. Pull-ups is where I'm struggling to increase rep count since I'm getting heavier. Like I really don't think I'm eating much more at all, and I'm talking like 5-6lbs in the last month, which seems a bit unrealistic for muscle mass (182-183lbs today morning, around 186lbs during the day). Meh, I'm contemplating lowering food intake a bit, but I've been on such a roll in the last 3 weeks, that I kind of don't want to change anything.

Though I don't really understand your post. I've had periods where my workout consistency was like 95% in 18 month periods, so I know I'll stall, but I have a better mindset going forward this time. It's different too because back then I had much more free time than I do now, and right now I'm able to say, "hey friend/gf, sorry, can't do this today, have to do this instead"... Which back then I didn't have as my biggest priority.

like the same way we swear never to drink again because of the terrible hangover, but we still do it, because we let our guard down and failed in the single moment, in all that period, that it actually mattered

Much of the credit for his remarkable longevity goes, whether anyone likes it or not, to the fact that he sought out an unconventional Eastern-medicine masseuse-trainer, Alex Guerrero, at whom NFL doctors look askance. Brady has been mocked, and Guerrero has been called a quack and a fraud, because of a dicey past in which he made extravagant claims about unproven products. But much of what he and Brady have done makes nothing but sense. NFL weight-training was hurting his joints and robbing him of flexibility, and the food he was eating was inflammatory and making him stiff. I’m 39, and I never hurt,” Brady says. “My arm never hurts, and my body never hurts. I know how to take care of it. . . . Hopefully I can keep passing that message on to a lot of young athletes.” www.washingtonpost.com

I guess my experience with MMA is that everyone who is 38+ starts getting banned for steroids, or they used to go for TRT, as well they struggle to maintain muscle at like 10-12% body fat, which in your 20s is feasible (think of all the greats as they aged, Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, Vitor Belfort, Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar - just naming recent ones since the testing is much more comprehensive these days) . A physique of James Harrison seems a bit out of reach from what I know about athletes, but strength drops of much slower than does the ability to stay lean, which obviously a UFC linebacker isn't going to aim to do. I'm an MMA guy (fan), so as I'm reaching on my 40s, I'd probably want to look like Demian Maia, someone we can be very certain about not being a steroid user, and also without some absurd genetics. At the age of around 35-38, strength-weight starts to significantly drop... With absolute strength dropping off significantly maybe 3 years afterwards. Generally speaking, I think that if your whole life you're an athlete, your peak physical condition is 25-32. When you're younger you can get stronger faster, but you need some time to reach that peak. Anyway, I went off topic.
