I was working up to a heavy double. Smashed 140kg for a double which was my old PR for a single. My buddy said "you looked good for 150kg" so I said fuck it and loaded it and did it lol.

How difficult is a snatch balance opposed to a normal snatch for you?

At 94kg weight class at the olympics, 150 is higher than 5 of the 18 competitors were able to lift, and the best American "only" lifted 160kg. That's hella cool.

edit: Also, laugh at me all you want guys, you know there's truth to it ^^

I dunno. When I hit 140 snatch balance my snatch was around 140. My snatch is probably lower than that now but I hit 150 lol.

I have no idea how my body works. I should have been in good shape to hit heavy weights on saturday but only worked up to 123 snatch and 145 CJ. Couldn't even rack 150 clean. Body felt like shit on Sunday. Yesterday I'm feeling pretty meh, just going through the motions, hit a solid 120kg snatch but missed 125 three times. Start doing CJ, figure I'll stop around 145, but the weights kept going up. Hit 155 for the first time in almost two months and then said fuck it and went for 160kg for the first time in a year almost exactly.

For the first time in my entire life, at age 30, I can touch my toes standing up! Only took about two months after adding streaches to my work outs.

Or maybe you should just go to a doctor.

I am pretty sure Vit D does not do anything this drastic nor does it act this quickly.

i wasnt KO, just felt super ill (malaise) and with headache as the main symptoms. which is the reverse of what usually happens to me in colds, iirc. i was expecting worse/fever to come but it didn't and by this evening i'm completely better. got in 2 gym sessions. i guess, in the past my "colds" have always been MASSIVELY drawn-out affairs lasting entire winters , only to be replaced by the summer heyfever season. just how hard the malaise hit me was unusual i thought, i thought it was maybe 2 colds at once shrug

Yeah, few pages back we were hyping up Vitamin D as one of the only supplements worth taking, it's not some magic cure or anything, I wouldn't point fingers at it.

Colds do mess up your lifting, and your focus, but definitely possible to fight through them and work/school.

Anyway, on my end workouts still progressing well, I think yesterday was my 11th workout without missing one, this consistency is definitely paying off in my lifts (I know slightly under a month of consistent workouts is nothing that impressive, but I've been struggling).

Deadlift 10lbs up from last week to 325lb now (6 reps), so that was good. Pull-ups is where I'm struggling to increase rep count since I'm getting heavier. Like I really don't think I'm eating much more at all, and I'm talking like 5-6lbs in the last month, which seems a bit unrealistic for muscle mass (182-183lbs today morning, around 186lbs during the day). Meh, I'm contemplating lowering food intake a bit, but I've been on such a roll in the last 3 weeks, that I kind of don't want to change anything.

it's easy to commend ourselves and become lost in thought regarding our good days and good periods, but our focus should always be on trying to remember that we need to recognise the bad days and bad periods and not letting our guard down. 11 days straight means you should be utterly concerned and preparing yourself for that shift in mood that will lead to failure at the 16 or 22 day point. don't forget that, because it is the only thing that matters, and the only thing that has ever mattered. the battle hasn't begun yet. it begins when you start to realise that you are at risk of complacency and have to face yourself then or lose it all. that is the real and only challenge, don't forget it

Keep in mind 11 workouts mean 11*7/3 = 26~ days.

Though I don't really understand your post. I've had periods where my workout consistency was like 95% in 18 month periods, so I know I'll stall, but I have a better mindset going forward this time. It's different too because back then I had much more free time than I do now, and right now I'm able to say, "hey friend/gf, sorry, can't do this today, have to do this instead"... Which back then I didn't have as my biggest priority.

im just saying that the real challenge is in spotting that problem time before it happens and dealing with whatever personal demon you have during that moment

like the same way we swear never to drink again because of the terrible hangover, but we still do it, because we let our guard down and failed in the single moment, in all that period, that it actually mattered

Much of the credit for his remarkable longevity goes, whether anyone likes it or not, to the fact that he sought out an unconventional Eastern-medicine masseuse-trainer, Alex Guerrero, at whom NFL doctors look askance. Brady has been mocked, and Guerrero has been called a quack and a fraud, because of a dicey past in which he made extravagant claims about unproven products. But much of what he and Brady have done makes nothing but sense. NFL weight-training was hurting his joints and robbing him of flexibility, and the food he was eating was inflammatory and making him stiff.

I’m 39, and I never hurt,” Brady says. “My arm never hurts, and my body never hurts. I know how to take care of it. . . . Hopefully I can keep passing that message on to a lot of young athletes.”

The unrealistic sound of these propositions is indicative, not of their utopian character, but of the strength of the forces which prevent their realization.

I much rather be in James Harrison shape than Tom Brady shape at 38. Of course Tom is better off focusing on shit other than lifting weights, he's a QB. The fact James is still crushing people half his age at linebacker is insane and a testament to the work he puts in the gym (and genetics and steroids, but that's most of the NFL).

I wouldn't be sad if I had a body like Tom Brady when I'm 38, though a bit leaner and bit more muscular would be nice. It does look like he treats his body in a conservative way, and does seem like someone who's physically very healthy.

I guess my experience with MMA is that everyone who is 38+ starts getting banned for steroids, or they used to go for TRT, as well they struggle to maintain muscle at like 10-12% body fat, which in your 20s is feasible (think of all the greats as they aged, Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, Vitor Belfort, Frank Mir, Brock Lesnar - just naming recent ones since the testing is much more comprehensive these days) . A physique of James Harrison seems a bit out of reach from what I know about athletes, but strength drops of much slower than does the ability to stay lean, which obviously a UFC linebacker isn't going to aim to do.

I'm an MMA guy (fan), so as I'm reaching on my 40s, I'd probably want to look like Demian Maia, someone we can be very certain about not being a steroid user, and also without some absurd genetics. At the age of around 35-38, strength-weight starts to significantly drop... With absolute strength dropping off significantly maybe 3 years afterwards.

Generally speaking, I think that if your whole life you're an athlete, your peak physical condition is 25-32. When you're younger you can get stronger faster, but you need some time to reach that peak. Anyway, I went off topic.
