This is the worst kind of injury possible.. to a pregnant woman who is still 4 months away from giving birth. if there is anything wrong with that baby Jones is fucked.
Had they not suspended him. Jones would've been fielding questions during fight week like
"Mr. Jones, should the baby be born with brain damage do you feel responsible" "Mr. Jones, how long was it before you returned to pick up the money in your rented car" and best of all. "Jon , u r very near your home... why are you driving in a car rented by your wife? u own 5+ cars of your own."
Also, the woman is receiving medical attention for her injuries. Jones paying her bills is an admission of guilt. So is Jones paying her bills or not? what level of health insurance does this woman have?
this is just a giant clusterfuck whose outcome is months and maybe even a full year away from resolution.

The woman is going to settle. He's going to have to sign over a significant part of his next purse (maybe all of it), but the guy is getting probation at worst. Unless of course the authorities push it on their own. The thing hosing him over the most is a cop ID'ing him. An average person would be an easy pay off, getting a cop to refuse to testify is going to be much more expensive.
But it's worth every penny to just pay everyone not to testify and any manager is going to tell him to do it.

every pregnancy has inherent risk. who accepts the risk of pregnancy problems? what is the compensation for assuming that risk?

right, i'm not the one who said montreal was more than 50% english.
back to the jones situation.
most car accident injuries are well defined within days after the accident. this is not the case here.
english is the native tongue of either 17% or 12% depending on how you want to define what montreal is.
17% is not 50%+ by any stretch.
a lot of other languages other than french and english are the native tongue of montrealers.
which is precisely why Rory Macdonald and Robbie Lawler went on The UFC 189 Tour and skipped Montreal. Because they can only appeal to 17% of the population. Because both fighters can only speak english.
This is why the UFC went to Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto and skipped the city where Rory Macdonald trains in. Namely, the 2nd biggest city in Canada: Montreal.
You'd think they would go the the 2nd biggest city in Canada. But , this is why the UFC did not do so.

my arguments are based on facts with verifiable sources... which i've put in my posts. if you dispute them then dispute them directly... personal attacks do not replace facts.
lol. if a quebecer were in a title fight the gate would be at least 5 times higher. no one would've cared about the rest of the card... because people cheer for their home town heroes... who speak their language with their accent.. a la Mcgregor, any brazilian, and GSP.
Dopingfree sports is important for the sponsors because they want to be associated with honesty, hard working, blabla, the best. etc... Using cocaine and driving stoned around town isnt part of that image. These pro athletes know they have an image to sell. You are seeing the same sponsorship behaviour in cycling. If a team uses doping, the sponsor simply quits at a certain point.
Edit: Just read the joan story about balancing the payout, irrelevant post.

You guys should show some respect to SynC, he started a great thread on something we all love and its sad to see that some people here have shit on this thread so much that he's stopped posting here.
I feel the exact same way as Sync. Don't want to point any fingers but it just seems that people just fill this thread with mma drama and its rare to see someone actually post an opinion on an actual fight.
its better to be specific with an exact problem you have with a specific post. for example, if you do not like this post explain exactly why. or if you disagree with my opinion explain why.
Pettis is having elbow surgery and is out 4 to 6 months. He was scheduled for a UFC Fight Night in Chicago. Chicago is a huge North American market and Pettis is from the mid-west. Thus, this is a big big blow to this card for the UFC. Milwaukee, Pettis home town, is a 2 hour drive from Chicago.
Joe Rogan provides an interesting perspective on MMA head injuries and impulse control in a convo with Sam Harris. Sam Harris has Ph.D. degree in cognitive neuroscience.
