yer. we're all hoping so too

Honestly, teams like New York and Detroit are making this terrible season for the Lakers so much easier to deal with. No matter how bad we get we'll never be THAT bad.

We're 6-16 in the West.
That's a better record than 4 teams in the laughably bad Eastern Conference and its better than the Timberwolves and equal to the Jazz who've had an easier schedule.
For how awful this team is, that's pretty good.
Got a win on the Rockets too.

meh, losing to the dubs as expected. no dwight both times we played against them and 5 bench points. can't wait for all our players to come back.

rockets really let this one get away, like 9 unanswered pts to pull away within 2 mins at the end of the 4th?

they went on a 11-0 run.
what can you do. our rotation is so short. look at our bench today.
not worried, once we're healthy...hopefully soon. our bench will be dmo, cannan, pap, black. not bad given how much thye have contributed while starting.

My dubs cover the spread in the last few minutes cha ching$$

wait...there was a narrative that klay is better than harden? :|
It's closer than you think. Klay plays both ways.
edit: would still take Harden but it's close.

Also, gonna put it out there, Houston looks better without Dwight (well, at least offensively). They move the ball much better.

i know we are fans of either side, but i don't think it's close :S i've watched plenty of both rockets and warriors games too. you can put a team on harden's shoulders and he'll carry you as he has done since dwight has been out. i can't say klay could do the same if curry was out...harden is second only to lebron in points created and scored whilst klay is someone who needs someone to create for him, although he has gotten a lot better over the last 2 years with his dribble penetration and finishing at the rim. i remember klay used to get shit scared with an open lane....yer klay might be the better defender but it's not like harden is trash on the defensive end. dude is playing 38 minutes a game on both sides whilst 3 of our rotation is d-leaguers anyway i would probably say harden>jimmy=klay. meh. at the end of the day, opinions are like arse-holes, everyone has one.
tldr: if you replace harden with klay on the rockets, we would not be on 16 wins.
we need dwight because he gets doubled, ariza has been shooting like crap and it's either 3s or harden isos. Dmo has helped but he doesn't create the space like dwight does. our defensive rebounding also sucks without dwight...i mean... our front court rotation is black/dorsey/dmo.... that is so bad on so many levels. all teams do is double or triple harden and there's not much left.

Klay isn't a number one option on offense, that's certainly true. But he's much more versatile this year and is attacking the paint a lot more, taking good shots and hitting them at league average or above. Klay shoots threes much better but that's about it offensively.
I think the gap between the two on D is bigger than the gap on O. Harden's trying more on D this year but for him that means getting up to around league average (and I'm not sure he's even there--must admit I don't watch the Rockets much though).
I think in Golden State's team Klay's a better fit. He plays off the ball, is deadly on the three but is versatile enough to punish teams that try get in his grill behind the arc. On D he's very versatile and big for a two guard. He's developing into a very good 2 banana and is a great foil for Steph.
Harden's the better player but I think in certain situations, Klay is a better fit (which is why I'd say they're closer as players than some may think).
|
Still think Harden is better but Klay's assist and rebounding numbers are actually up from last year while averaging less minutes. That is actually a very big deal going forward. If he isn't the #1 option on offense (hate this term ) but puts up production in other areas he is a lock to outperform his contract.
Just double checked his Wins Produced and I think he actually went up from last I looked. According to that he's nearly at an All Star level (.187 WP/48)

boxscore stats have a hard time capturing off the ball plays, defense and general scheme synergy.
number 1 options is a thing because of how some offenses are drawn up, you try to get the ball to guy A, if that is not possible or if a shooter is open, go to other options. iso plays are kind of the reverse of that, with it being the worst case option, unless there's a big mismatch or something. but the way help defense is so important now, makes it hard to distinguish between a desperation iso play from a designed one.

Had an interesting discussion with my friend about the Celtics. Long story short, he'd trade Rondo in a heartbeat. My opinion is if Rondo is traded, he's going to the Rockets. Thoughts?
|
I wouldn't trade Rondo is a heart beat, and hes not really a great fit in Houston. Harden does most of the ball handling there, and if you take the ball out of Rondo's hands you take away one of his two really big strengths. The pieces might match up, but I don't buy him as a good fit unless you can take the ball out of Hardens hands.
|
would NOT want rondo...someone that can't shoot from ANYWHERE on the court...no thank you. his creativity is great when harden is off, but from all accounts he's a cancer. our first priority should be locking up our fragile and weak front court.
|
Well hes not a cancer from all accounts, and hes actually a above average shooter from mid range and at the rim, but yeah your other points are still a good reason to not trade for him.
