How so? You beat your man you get +1. You beat 2 you get +2. Cristiano is just not that good of a dribbler like many clueless people think he is. He has transformed into a more athletic version of Pipo Inzaghi.
How do you tell the difference between a dribble and just running past some guy? I just think that people see a lot of things that aren't dribbles as dribbles.
Its a very touchy-feely abstract kind of statistic to run on. Sure, there are clear cut cases where one player beats another and continues the play straight through the other player. But many more times you will see vary different points of view on what actually happened. The player turned left and kept running, the defender let the ball through and not the player, the defender never really lost the player and is still with him, player A got past player B because of a deflection from player C etc. etc. etc.
I think you can measure the amount of freekicks, goals, yellow cards, distance run, touches on the ball and so on but the amount of dribbles really comes down to interpretation and who is collecting the 'statistics'.

Exactly. People like cristiano, bale, suarez just run past people, while people like messi, iniesta, hazard dribble.

One does it in a faster way, one does it in a slower way: in the end both types of player are past the defender... I don't see whats bad about it lol

Yes they are, if it's just 1 defender. Take a look at the graph again. You will understand the superiority of dribbling vs kicking the ball forward.

I don't see it. Ronaldo scores as many goals as Messi so there is no superiority?

Sure but Ronaldo plays for Real, and the way team plays he doesn't have 3-4 opponents between him and goal but one or two. Also you're implying that being good at dribbling makes any difference which is false, if you can make your team finish with more goals than your opponent without dribbles you're lot better player than someone who do lots of useless dribbling.

Inzaghi scored lots more than pirlo, is he a better player? Cristiano scores lots more than zidane, is he a better player?

I am not trolling. Ronaldo has as much impact for his team as Messi does. If Ronaldo or Messi slump the whole team slumps. I know you love to say that Messi is the GOAT but at the moment Ronaldo is on the same level as Messi. The trophies show it, the stats say it, even popularity contests say it. Yes Messi WAS at some point much better than Ronaldo, no one will ever say otherwise. But NOWADAYS they are equal, every neutral person will say that Steveling and trying to say otherwise without fanboyism - that is trolling.
Messi is a better dribbler we all know it. Probably the best dribbler of all time. Ronaldo is faster - do you see Ronaldo fans say Ronaldo is better than Messi because he is faster? No you don't. I only see you saying Messi is superior to Ronaldo because he dribbles better than him. Why? You give no reason, if Messi scores 40 goals with dribbling and Ronaldo scores 40 goals with kicking the ball forward - where is there your superiority? If anyone is trolling it is you Steveling.
when Ronaldo was younger he used to dribble in a different way(Sporting, Manchester)... but you know now he adapted to be a different player age matters too...
i mean... saying he just runs is kinda stupid and biassed.
I'm starting to hear all posting about Ronaldo and Messi as some kind of white noise I don't need to bother reading.
edit: Maybe I should apologise. This comment was a little bit ruder than I meant it to be.
Something that might be worth a laugh is Wayne Rooney getting a little carried away and declaring that Europe is getting scared of the current England team now we have beaten Lithuania. Erm keep things in proportion a little bit maybe.
Netherland XI for match against Turkey: Cillessen; Van der Wiel, De Vrij, Martins Indi, Blind; Clasie, Wijnaldum, Sneijder; Afellay, Huntelaar, Memphis.
hmm this is not good. i had no expectations before the game but seeing this lu giving me hope.

edit: Also how are Greece bottom of their group?
Wow yeah everyone must be terrified. Imagine how good we would be if Lallana wasn't injured LOL
Yeah guys, let's keep the Ronaldo vs Messi stuff for when the Ballon d'Or comes around again or maybe if and when they play a Clasico, i.e. when it's relevant.
Not just shoving it down our throats at every opportunity. I've PM'ed with Steveling about this.

Hiddink playing Afellay is ridiculous anyway :\. But we're both down our best player (Arda Turan and Robben). Netherlands should still be big favourites.

A lot of these moves are just for show though and dont accomplish anything. In a dribble you get past the defender and not do some flashy moves and then pass the ball on. Messi just runs past people with speed and control. But ofc its a lot easier for him cause of his physique.
Are you familiar with the planetary hazard known as claudio ranieri? For the first time in ages we get a really easy group and he manages to completely destroy a perfectly functioning team. We even lost to some fishermen some months ago, think it was san marino.

What are you trying to say? That messi isn't a good dribbler? haha That comment of yours about "my" definition is garbage mate, I didn't create these numbers, they are registered stats. Lastly, I'll have you know that when dinho won the ballon he said "best player in the world? im not even the best player in barca".
