Difference in money is less in the PL so they would think they want to make the game exciting as well. PL is the most exciting league in the world for a reason. That would result in Messi getting way more space to work with than what he's used to, i.e. more goals.
It's moot anyway though. He won't join the PL because he'll stay at Barça, and his goal-scoring record streaks are over with him becoming more and more like a playmaker instead of a goal-scorer. Yeah he said numerous times he is never leaving Barcelona as long as they want him, so it will never happen. Im pretty sure everyone would park the bus vs Barcelona if they were in premier league. Outside of Barcelona though it would be like Argentina all over again where he just isn't as effective? Not sure would be cool if we could actually see this, but won't happen Like Ronaldo, do you think he is a better player at Real than when he was at Yanited? On October 20 2014 20:33 GumBa wrote: Barca wouldn't be as good in PL imo cause they would get the shit kicked out of em Literally, imagine what Charlie Adam from stoke would do to Messi rofl. OUCH I didn't watch Ronaldo much at United, but he was pretty young there afaik but supporting cast being better and him himself being better matters a lot I guess. And Messi's been on the receiving end of Pepe numerous times (with him stomping on him when he's down etc.). Also the argument that Barça would get kicked the shit out of them in PL is just untrue. That happens in La Liga as well, but it's heard to kick someone when the ball is already away. They're literally too late to kick someone down because of the instant passing. And I don't think teams like Arsenal, Spurs, Southampton, Swansea etc. would park the bus against Barça but actually hold true to their style. It's the best way to beat them anyway, play like you're used to, fight them off with your own weapons instead of some concocted ones. Would be cool to find out, the only best way is via the Champions League. Lets hope for a Chelsea vs Barcelona this year, haven't had one of those in a while On Ronaldo i don't think he has got "that much better" personally, like you say though his supporting cast are arguably way better, but the Yanited team he was in back in the day was pretty good. I just think if he came back as well he wouldn't be scoring much more than 20 league goals a season. For what it's worth, I think Ronaldo now is a much better player than he was at United. And Messi would score more goals in any other league except PL. PL stronk.
I dont think the PL is 'STRONK' compare to la liga, I think it's just different. One difference is that la liga is more tactical, more intelligent players, while EPL is stronger more physical players. This means that the EPL is harder to dribble, so if you rely on that, like messi, your going to have a bad time (to quote Southpark). Also referees tend to let players get away with stronger tackles. This means you get less space and time on the ball and its more difficult to skill past players.
But then you look at fiberglass, he was better in the EPL because his play is intelligent, clever passes and the like. Spanish defenders and players are better at reading this so he didn't have as good success, plus the passing emphasis on the game in Spain slows down play, giving players a bit more time to think, which makes clever passing that bit more difficult. Messis dribbling wouldn't work as well so id imagine he'd score less goals, but probably get more assists due to his cute passing. Iniesta on the other hand, would be a God at his prime, completely unplayable if he was in the EPL.

Chelsea vs Barcelona is not a good way to find out of course considering there will be an average of 0.5 goals scored per match or whatever.
Yaya Toure, Silva, Mata (cough* player of the year Chelsea cough*) Di Maria, Costa, Aguero, Fabregas
Its like all these players coming from Spain and taking it up a notch in England cant handle the Premier League, all of them sucking so much dick. Right.... o wait..
Yes attendance is the barometer we are using for comparing strength and depth when really the only reasonable measure if at all reasonable is performance in Europe. You know that UEFA coefficient that everyone dismisses when it doesnt suit there narrative because "Uefa so corrupt"
I think people are under the impression that all Barca games are Messi dribbling past defenders and thats the style of play.
Sadly this is clear evidence of peoples watching of Barca (and Real for that matter) being limited to highlight reals and classico's
Did anyone see the game vs Eibar this weekend ? The whole game, not highlights. Im sure more people saw Dortmund be god aweful against Koln than they did that in this thread. Because if you bother to actually watch Real and Barca games you must be a fan, otherwise why would you, theres no competition, surely it cant be that people appreciate good football.
On the subject of the indian player who died. I am back home for a holiday and that Indian League is all over TV. I was actually switching in and out of that game. I personally am a strongly against acrobatic celebrations. Its just not worth it let alone from a fatality perspective, what if you twist your leg or foot or whatever, you never now its just not worth it.

Out of the ones you listed just only really Silva can be judged and probably Yaya. Yaya was allowed to leave Barcelona for some random reason. Mata is not the level he was allowed to be at Chelsea he isn't strong enough, he costs yanited alot of turnover. Costa and Di Maria can't be judged due to they haven't even done a season yet xD Fabregas is a product of England not Spain His career was in England not in Spain, he was still good in La Liga anyway, top assists etc and stuff. But you can have players like Ozil who were dominating with Fabregas in assists and such and now look at him. Struggling to get a decent 90 minutes together.
ANYWAY, there is no point debating it because we will never see Messi in the premiership and if Ronaldo comes back to Yanited he will be the wrong end of 30.

Yeah managers like Ferguson used to go crazy at those kind of celebrations. It is such a sad thing to happen and should highlight to the players who do them to maybe stop!

Yeah I understand doing sommersaults every four years for a world cup goal (like Klose used to do it) because thats something very very special but nothing apart from maybe CL final would be worth risking your career/life for that

The reason Yaya left barca was far from random. He was just too bulky and clumsy in the midfield while busquets proved to be more than what pep wanted and needed.
|
Bulky and clumsy? Lol that is the most random (and wrong) thing I ever read about Touré's play at Barça.
He was a beast, plain and simple. Left the team because Busquets got his spot in the starting eleven (he was even better, or at least Pep thought so) and the other 2 were Iniesta and Xavi, so he didn't have many chances of playing most of the big games.
|
ofc he was a beast, however by saying bulky and clumsy i dont mean he wasnt bad, just didnt fit the playing style pep demanded.
|
Oh ok then I guess I misunderstood, sorry
On the second part we fully agree too.
|
bulky and clumsy? for a man of yaya's size, i think he's a freaking ballerina.
|
i would even say that yaya is and was a better player than busquets, but just didnt offer that pep wanted. similar to when ibra played for barca, he was a better player than pedro (during the time when pedro was actually good) but pedro was more suited to the team overall

England might have found themselves a new striker in Berahino. Such awesome runs, nice first touch and knows where the back of the net is. Nice :D
|
Roy Hodgson is an idiot for not giving playtime to Berahino against San Marino or any other weak teams.
He is sickly good.

well, hold your horses! even bendtner would look good vs this united defence
|
Mata is just so bad.
Leave set pieces to Di Maria ffs.

Haha yeah i guess But he has 5 league goals in 7 games, this one is his 8th. Not bad for a 21 year old . So i don't say on just this game, but your point is valid xD
