you forgot to add "in this day and age". the old folks who are diehard fans of their hometown team happens more in the past because they couldnt watch other teams as easily as today, they couldnt get news on other teams like we can today. all they knew was their town/city

hmmmph. at $8M per...seems decent. just worried he's one of those contract year players..but 3andD was what we needed..hopefully he plays well...gives us flexibillity in lineup and still keeps our MLE

He's the epitome of a contract year player.

yer. i'm just in denial...

did i just see marvin williams get $7M per?

ESPN insider article headline: "Knicks and Melo need a second star." Very insight, such article.
|
So is ariza gonna be a small ball PF (assuming Parsons comes back)?
Not liking Houstons roster as much this year...
|
maybe...it'll be some bev/harden/ariza/parson/howard or harden/ariza/parson/PF/howard line up or something...we still have quite a bit of capspace left...priority probably finding that backup C and a PF...still...could have been worse...
apparently nick johnson has been looking really really good, albeit summer league and all, still a nice positive to have a backup rookie guard, and we should be briniging daniels back
ariza probably coming off the bench, splitting his time between sg/sf when parson and harden goes to bench, that's still 30+ minutes a game for him..
|
Parsons played stretch 4 at times last season. Don't think he can do it for a full game. Roster seems wonky to me if they match Parsons and it's just weak if they don't. They lose Parsons, Lin, Asik and add Ariza. What else is out there that they could get? No way they can get a quality big like Asik and Troy Daniels as backup PG is weak sauce as well.
|
yer. i think getting ariza points to matching, we're just making the mavs unable to sign anyone with the capspace tied up for now. but im certain we'll be matching parsons and there will be 1-2 more signings at least
there are rumours dragic is available? really? i guess they have bledsoe, collison and thomas...i would have thought bledsoe the one to go. would be SICK if we get dragic...but that's a long shot maybe gibson would be available if the bulls sign gasol, he'd be a nice PF acquisition

gonna visit clutchfans and see the fallout from this one
|
people on clutch are actually quite happy about the deal, especially compared to marvin and if we keep parsons, we still have i think 8m cap, MLE, BAE. but we need to sign up the rest quick.
|
The Ariza deal itself is pretty good imho. 8 per for him is reasonable. Just not quite what the Rockets needed.

100% this. I was a Nets fan while Jason Kidd was with them because he was my favorite player but as soon as he was gone why should I care about them anymore? Outside of my hometown team, I follow players, not teams.

With Melo going to the Knicks we don't need to dump salary, we'd probably keep him.

Anthony Morrow signing with Thunder for 3y/10m.
Mike Miller agreed to join the Cavs, working on contract.
Edit: Paul Pierce headed to Wizards.
Deng probably taking his talents to South Beach, not set in stone yet.

Gasol to Bulls
Melo signs with NY
