Seems the wolves have no intention to keep Love. Theyre making no plays to upgrade the roster, which to me says they're waiting on a trade and will progress accordingly depending on their personnel.

I'm guessing Love has said he's leaving no matter what. Still think they wait closer to Feb to trade him though.

the more i think about the more i cry about the upcoming season, we lost 2 good starters to our own division. we might even be last in our division this coming season. i mean i can see the positive of having all our MLE and max cap by not matching parsons. but boy, it's depressing.

problem i've always had with houston is that their roster has no synergy/is self destrutive. you have howard who is the center piece for a strong defense because he's good inside. but this advantage is given away by having absolutely catastrophic defensive wings. i understand that the roster is constructed within the constraints of which playesr are available when, and they got harden first before getting howard. but it is still a weird team.

i agree with you and ariza is a much better wing defender than harden. it's just hard to swallow after a promising season that 14-15 is going to be write-off with our hopes depending on so much of the FA class.

Houston's ok but they've lost depth which will hurt most. Parsons hurts but it's the right call. Asik and lin gone is rough for their weak bench. There's still time to re-tool but I def see them regressing this year. Maybe back to 50 wins or so. Harden and Dwight is still pretty formidable though. I'd make a low ball play for ilyasova if I'm morey.

edit: Looks like Houston also traded for Alonzo Gee, and Dallas picked up Richard Jefferson. A lot of SF moves in Texas today.

I look at it like, when you have a chance to create a megateam with Bosh, you take the chance. And even though it failed, we're only marginally worse, though it depends who we pick up with Asik's cap space for our bench. We also have Nick Johnson, and can bring over Clint Capela from Europe.

daryl morey took all the educated risks and made all the necessary moves in order to sign the best available free agents in order to make his team a contender, and the one he thought he had an agreement with changed his mind about what he wanted.

Deng is smart. Get a 2 year deal right before the big TV contract in 2016. Almost everyone wants negotiating power for that summer.

Morey failed but it was the absolute best move. If Houston had gotten Bosh the entire league would be shitting themselves right now.

I agree that Morey made the right play, and the end result doesn't change that. Superstars are the scarcest and most important commodity in the NBA, and you always go for one if the chance presents itself. The move for Bosh was a strong one and it was honestly a bit surprising that Bosh turned the Rockets down. The potential payoff was more than worth the risk of landing where they are now, which is still not a position at all with superstars at SG and C. Look at how the Cavs went all-in on Lebron despite everyone saying how impossible and unrealistic it was for the return to occur, and how well it worked out for them in the end. You got to go for the homeruns if your goal is to win rings.

I doubt Houston banked on the heat outbidding them by $30mill. Money always talks. I'm sure bosh prob thought he was going to houston too if LeBron went. Leaving $30 mill on the table is too difficult. Look at Melo too.
