I think Jagr has officially played for more NHL teams than he hasn't played for.

At least Girardi had been playing at a high level sometime in the past 2 years (though the 2nd half of that contract is gonna hurt as he continues to age and slow). However, his style of play also nicely compliments McDonagh. The Staal contract was purely based on what he did years ago, and his name. Granted, part of the reason his numbers, traditional and fancy, are so meh is due to deployment. But he's hardly the young up and comer he was 5 years ago. At this point it's safe to say he's more a 4-5 defenseman than a 2-3, but they paid him like one. I honestly would have preferred that we just go into the offseason trying to sign him cheaper, and let him walk if the terms were not more in line with his production. Plain and simple: 'defensive' defensemen should not be getting $5+ a year. It was stupid with Volchekov on the devils, it was dumb with Orpik, and Staal is better than both in all facets but he's still in that mold these days reading the rangers bloggers at blueshirtbanter they all think girardi is a heavy burden for mcdonagh to carry. he has pretty bad corsi stats i think

This is hopefully the positive that will come of the nhl adapting these stats: one day, I won't have to go to mulitple sites to figure out zone starts, corsi, etc. And it will eliminate any kind of discrepcies between sites. also apparently the corpse of horton was just traded for clarkson???? yup literally the only thing I can think of is CBJ has an internal cap and can't afford to eat Horton's salary and pay for a top 6 replacement. But fuuuuck that's so bad lol

I wonder if Nonis saves his job with that move. He unfucked a massive fuck up (even if the only reason he had the opportunity was something totally out of his control)

Jagr has literally played in the NHL longer than the Panthers have. EDIT: Even better, the day Ekblad was born, Jagr scored his 200th goal. Hilarious.

Still, yeesh. I wonder if Nonis saves his job with that move. There's no MSl or Callahan hanging around this year. I think the biggest will be someone like Vermette moving... maybe Yandle if we're lucky. Yea I have a feeling it's going to be a very boring trade deadline this year. The best entertainment might be the guys on TSN trying to kill time and make up filler shit for their day long show with nothing of value actually happening to talk about.

TO likes it cause they would rather pay some one 5.5 mill to not play and no have the cap hit. Theoretically they can spend that money on someone better then Clarkson. That being said, the guy who singed him in the first place is the one still making the calls. So time will tell.
