well i guess the yandle deal looked worse than it is partly because rangers won't have a first round pick in forever, after not having one for like 5 years.

Yeah, but it is also protected. If the Rangers miss the playoffs in 2016 and that pick is good, they can defer it. So it's guaranteed to be a 25th or so pick which ain't too bad. But yeah I am a little concerned that while we have some prospects, we don't exactly have the depth that someone like Chicago does. Most of our young guys area already up, whereas Chicago has young guys up AND good prospects in minors or lower.

Not many. But, when people are asking why this team is so horrible and why they can't seem to get any better, this is the kind of stuff they need to remember. This team makes bad decisions and continually assures us that they will never be better. We hoped for the best, but it turned out like always.

Petry is going to be great in Montreal. They have picked up a hell of a player.

Therrien is pretty much the king of misuing players though, so I fully expect him to be benched in favor of Emelin when they go down a game in the playoffs. Still like you mentioned it is silly on the part of the Oil since is really their only genuinely top 4 NHl defensemen on the roster and they gave him away for not much.

I'm kind of surprised that's all the Oilers are doing though. There were rumors that Ferrance was being talked about a lot and if so why the fuck wouldn't you just give him away to the first taker. Too much $$ for a 3rd pairing possession black hole

It's probably bs because The Hockey News is seriously awful these days but they were reporting that the Wings are looking for a RHD but have interest in Phaneuf even though he's a leftie... and they'd ship Weiss and Brendan Smith. Devils got a third from Detroit for Zidlicky. That's a smart move by Detroit tbh. Cheap but good RHD add, gives them flexibility to get someone else down the road

also the blues got Michalek who is pretty good. Micahlek is one of those few cases where 'defensive defensive' doesn't mean immobile pylon. I didn't really think they needed one, but looking at the roster again I guess it makes sense.

tyler kennedy getting moved for a third seems high given his lack of production these past few years, but jesus it makes that crazy islanders forward depth even better in the bottom 6

At this point, yeah, it was about mitigating damage. But many fans and followers have been crying for the team to lock him up long term for yeeeeaaaaars in order to avoid this but the Oilers have never shown any interest in the player, despite his being a rare positive point on an awful team.

Isles got Neiuverth for Chad Jonson and a 3rd. Smart move.

Blues traded Ian Cole to the Pens for Fucking Bortuzzo and a 7th. That's an awful trade. Cole has been underused and misused in STL, often playing offside on the third when they actually do play him. He has good upside as a puck moving defensemen if used right. Bortuzzo is just useless shit aside from running people.
