It seems like the story of Mark Jackson has changed so many times. In the last weeks of the season he was a martyr to the unrealistic expectations of owners. Then he was an abrasive, egocentric hypocrite forcing his religion on everyone. Now his firing is emblematic of racism in the NBA.

He's actually just a bad coach who can't run rotations or call plays and was carried by the strength of his team's great talent that masked the fact that his entire offensive system was isos and david lee post ups.

Really? I heard it pretty consistently that there was a lot of tension over the internals of the coaching/front office interplay particularly with the assistant coaches. Possibly overly ambitious ownership expectations and a hyper competitive west added in seems pretty unremarkable firing conditions. It's possible that his religiousness compounded a communication issue with Lacob. (Worth noting is that that Jackson has, if you read into 'unnamed soandso', been fairly communicative about his qualms with homosexual equality which could also be a bit of an issue for San Fran). I haven't, yet, seen anyone equate his firing with racism. If you're referencing Zeller's point about hiring discrepancies, that's a bit different and totally valid critique.

The end result is that he's back at ESPN. "Joy." I bet he returns to the JVG/Breen team too. Bahhhhhhhhhh.

Haiq your post is accurate minus the ownership expectations, the firing had everything to do with the culture and the weirdness with his assistant coaches, not the performance of the teams. ALthough TTT is right that his coaching was pretty bad.

Lancey: I hope Wade's knee flares up.

Wade: Lance, you know there's no drug testing in the playoffs, right?

So I've been bouncing some ideas to get Love to the Dubs this off season.

Do you think a package of Klay+Lee+Barnes gets it done for Love + (insert contract Minny wants to dump)?

I think Minnesota says no. Thompson is under contract for several more years, right? So they're looking at a future with Thompson and Barnes with Lee off the books in two years. The problem with trading Lee is that he ties you up for the second year, same reason why Stoudemire wasn't moved. I think Minny needs a pick or two which GSaw doesn't have (perhaps 2015 due to Stepien rule?) with that or more bad Dubs expirings (are there any?) they can sell at the deadline.

Then again, if they truly believe Love will leave, then low balling them might work.

there was some rumor that love's "guys" were informing that if wolves don't trade him he'll be leaving via FA. hmm

Exactly why they might sell low on him just to make sure they see a return.

Yes, but it wasn't attractive this year, similar to Lee's for this upcoming year.

Expiring contracts are not as attractive to GMs nowadays, due to the projected increase in salary cap (7%, from 58mil to 63mil), and that GMs are attempting to hoard their picks (even their second rounders). The new GMs value flexibility and trades in the NBA for expiring contracts are seen less because of it.

An example would be where the Lakers were desperate to trade Pau Gasol (and his 19.3mil expiring contract) this season. The most likely trading partner were the Suns, but the wouldn't give up one of their 4 first-round picks, nor a second round pick for him. No one else would give up a 2nd round pick for him.
Venture Capital is better off spent on lottery tickets rather than investing in E-Sports; you'll get a far better return. The difference is simple: Koreans are tryharding at the game, foreigners are tryharding in real-life.

I agree with your first paragraph Phelix, but your 2nd paragraph isn't entirely factual. I heard more talk about the Suns willing to give up a 2nd rounder and the Lakers wanting a 1st, so they held out. Then, I forgot which trade went down(Bynum to Sixers?), that was very similar to Pau and that made them look more desperate and they lost some leverage. Pau came down "injured" during this time too and Bledsoe got injured for the Suns also.

And although I agree with your general point, it is also only one of the reasons for what happened to Pau. Teams were also tanking it from the get-go, so they don't want or need Pau. It makes less teams with a chance to realistically make a run, so it also plays a role on someone really wanting/needing him. Plus, Pau played the don't-trade-me role very well all season. Pussying out of games when it sounded like a trade might be getting close (toe thing, ankle thing, dizzy thing, etc..).

I think he will do good next season and can make a big impact on the right team.

On the bright side, what more can Nets fans ask of Prokhorov though? The guy came in and has done everything you could ask for from an owner.

Those bad trades were not his fault, unless it's like he completely ignore the GM's and executives.

And pumped for Pacers-Heat! If I had to choose someone I would say Pacers right now but it is soo hard. Specially because we don't even know what IND team will show up yet. Hibbert is definitely the X-factor though. Miami will do a good job containing PG.

As for the x-factor for the Heat, it is hard to say. You can't really say Wade or Bosh is the x-factor b/c they stars, so I would say Battier/Haslem/Birdman. Whoever it is that ends up getting the most minutes from the lineups they throw out there.

He hired Billy King. That was indefensible at the time and has remained so. Good moves by BK? Maybe the Kirilenko signing. Arguments could be made for the potential of DWill (if you accept injuries as the source of his catastrophic fall-off), annnd that's all I've got. Maybe it wasn't widely known (my sixers haven't exactly been relevant for ~15years) but King was a terrible GM with the Sixers and has done pretty much the same kind of idiocy with the Nets.

I think they can ask him to fire Billy King. Otherwise, he's done a fine job by the fans.

Kirilenko signing was some shady shit, so he does deserve credit for that one. SIgning an ~8m player for 3m? There has to be some wink wink going on there.

Amazing game so far. Pacer's offense seems to have kicked in, and their defense is making Miami work. I hope they can keep it up for another half.

If you asked me, I'd say Indiana had a shot of winning, but I haven't seriously considered the possibility that, for instance, the Spurs would play Indiana in the Finals.
