Apparently were pretty good a moguls.
Rest of the world, do you even freestyle?
Hey, our bearded man would have gotten the gold if he had not messed up. Or if he did not have to work 7-hour-days at the mine in order to support himself. Or if he was a little better at mogul (strange name for a sport, I might add). But as it is I'd say 11th place is not bad. He'll get it next time when he is 34 and the beard goes down to his belly.

That dudes beard was amazing! I was pretty sad when he fell, shitty way to go but that guy was cool.
Also, when did the dutch get like seriously amazing at speed skating?

When they discovered it was either that or getting crushed at their real national sport : road cycling.

As far as the Olympics go there are three sports which the Netherlands excels at: cycling, swimming and speed skating. All three sports are cultural strong points of the Netherlands as I do not know of a single dutch person that is not adequate at all three things. So to answer your question we have always been pretty good at speed skating in particular long distance and most dutch people are familiar with the famous Elfsteden tocht. Speed skate sprinting however is a relative new phenomenon and this is probably the hand of Gerard van der Velde.

Didn't Clara Hughes have to give up skating for cycling? Still impressive as fuck to compete in two sports.

Sort of. She was in the 1996, 2000, and 2012 Summer Olympics, and 2002, 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics.
Medalled in all three Winters, but only medalled in the 1996 Summer. Still got 5th for Road Time Trials in London, though.

We had a weaker male generation but our ladies are great and Kromowidjojo gets to call herself the fastest woman in the water. :p The problem with swimming is that we are getting crowded out by shear numbers in the other events and we do not posses a Phelps who can do several.
But I'm confident freestyle will remain strong for many generations.
I like to think that she is relatively fine and just lost her breath and got a sore back. ..and nooooo the Swede fell in the other competition D: ..and the Polish lady too :D
