It's an opinion held by nobody because their are only two nations that can ice competent teams. So the only place you can watch women's ice hockey is NCAA (its bad.) or the Olympics. I'm sure the USA/Canada gold medal game will be good but that's the only one that will be.
The reason NHL regular season games are boring is the same reason a standard MLB game sucks. In the grand scheme of things it alone is totally meaningless until late March or early April. And alot of games are played between terrible teams (Buffalo/Edmonton tonight is a great example of a worthless game). Those same guys who hate the regular season analyze the living hell out of every single shift during the playoffs.
MLB? wrong.
for most of baseball's history its all about the 7 day a week grind. the necessity for a deep starting staff etc.
hockey is not a 7 day a week sport with a 5 man goalie rotation.
...How is this relevant to what he said?
lol... let me finish my post
the NHL regular season has little meaning. an MLB regular season has had some of the most INCREDIBLE MOMENTS.
the NHL knows the game is boring ..which is why we've got lines being removed (centre red line) .. lines being added (trapezoid)... blue lines moved in ... .then out.. goal lines moved out...
we now have a new invisible line offiicals must be aware of to call the new hybrid icing rule... ZZZzzzz...
and on and on... and scoring continues to decline...
now scotty bowman is campaigning for a new line that is the equivalent of the face off line in ringette ROFLMAO.
its boring
here is what happens in the baseball regular season.
bucky dents 1978 homer.. etc etc so on and so forth.
tampa rays eliminating boston 2 years ago.
Canada v. USA womens olympic hockey is more fun to watch than an NHL regular season game. end of story.
Yeah playoff stretch drives are exciting in every sport dude. Final game of the season in 2010. Flyer vs Rangers. Win and your in. 2-1 shootout win for the Flyers. That was a great game! No one remembers the games in November though. Same as baseball. Nobody remembers the May games.
I remember early games, but thats because Red Wings always disappointment and Canuck fans always allow me to enjoy their manic-depressive ways "THE CUP IS COMING!" is always fun to read in Oct/Nov
women's event starts in 3 days. men's in a week. there is going to be some great games on the big international ice surface. No Trapezoid! After 2 weeks of great hockey people will realize how much the NHL sucks.

big upsets happen in single game elimination events. no one in their right mind thinks Belarus is better than Sweden in hockey. Sweden has 1 gold in the 4 best-on-best olympics. that is 1 more gold than finland, russia, and the USA.

during many years 16 of 21 teams made the playoffs in the NHL during those same years 4 of 26 teams made the playoffs in MLB.
even now... a lot more teams make the playoffs in the NHL.
regular season baseball means more than regular season hockey because so few teams make the playoffs.
nothing in hockey's regular season has ever matched or even come 1/10 as close as "the shot heard round the world" or Bucky Dent's homer against the Red Sox in the greatest collapse in regular season history.
there is a giant party after an MLB team wins a regular season pennant. no one celebrates a regular season division title in the NHL.
heh was just coming to see if that had been posted. Too bad such a shitty time to get an injury, hopefully he is well enough to return after the break.

it isnt going to be him. Team Canada head honchos seem to literally hate him and Yzerman doesnt want to lose his second key player as TB prepares for the playoffs.
