If you're betting on the team with the best goalies, then bet on the US. Finland and Sweden have good goalies but the Miller/Quick combo is better than what they have. Finland has a lot of great goalies, but I would take Quick/Miller over them.

Everyone is prolly going by chosen #1 and the second keeper gets the crappy games (vs second tier).

Lundqvist holds the olympic record for longest shutout time. on big ice i take Lundqvist over Quick and Miller any day of the week.
but, i would also take Tretiak over Craig. who won that one? in these 1 game elimination type tournaments anything can happen.
USA beats the Soviet Union. Belarus beats Sweden. Switzerland beats Canada. Russia barely beats Kazakhstan
this tournament is so short, anything can happen.
it'll be fun to watch , but its too short to mean much because of how closely matched all the countries are.
these countries need a BO7 to solve anything between them.

Rask's style translates well to big ice hockey. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=698691

However, I am not sure if the second keeper gets games, even if he is good, in a lot of cases. At least I'd personally perfer to get my #1 in a good grove in such a short tourny.
Hank's got big ice experience, and a gold under his belt. Even with his shaky play early on in the season, Sweden's D is not AV's clusterfuck. I think he'll do well.
Rask is reason #1 why the Fins, who has a pretty good team but one that is not nearly as good as the top favs, can definitely medal. I've loved him since he broke into the NHL. Dude's a stud.

Lunken has been away in Americat for 10 years. Forget "big ice experience", that left his body a long time ago

Well obviously we can, but then we always lose the next game vs some Czechs... But in this case i really want US to take revenge on Canada (as much as i respect your team). That Crosby goal
PS. on a serious note Rus-Can finals would be fucking awesome.

I would be satisfied with a top 3 for Sweden this time around. Aslong as we dont go out earlier I'm fine. I would like USA to win it otherwise.

Selänne in his 6th olympics, hope he can still pull his weight as he seems to be having a rough season and last olympics went pretty poorly for him, 0+2 although we did get Bronze.
I'm carefully optimistic about Finlands chances here as we have great goalkeepers and a healthy mix of experience and youth in our roster.
Canada is the favourite as usual but I feel like anything could happen between Russia, Finland, USA and Sweden. I'm not expecting much from Czechs this time around but they're in the game as well.
Also where the fuck is Germany.

In terms of odds, Canada slightly edges Russia as tourney favorite, followed by Sweden and then US. I thought Canada would be more heavily favored but you can get them paying slightly more than 2:1.
|
Teemu needs more finnish love.
have faith!!

Selänne is Olympics all-time leading scorer. I'm glad to see him representing Finland one more time.

Love Olympic hockey. Still remember USA/Canada 2010, that shit was epic.
|
USA/canada 2010 was epic both times.
Sports illustrated is picking sweden winning over russia in the finals with USA finishing out of the medals loseing to canada for the bronze.
I'm picking russia to be the team to beat. Russia spent 50 billion USD on a shitty olympics with facilities that they will never be able to pay for to just get here. winning gold on home soil is all that matters to them.
That beign said USA gold canada silver Sweden bronze russia fourth GTFO WEAK MEN
|
I don't see how Russia's going to win with that defense. Bobrovsky's been inconsistent this year as well.
|
Varlamov will be the No1. and as it always happens in US-RUS game we will score a lot and you will foul/provoke a lot.

im no blind patriot or anything, but calling olympics "shitty" before they even start is a bit disrespectful to say the least. I was hoping for a little more tolerance on TL. Regardless of how much money was spend (most of which was stolen, but that's another story) many many people actually worked there and put their heart/soul into making this a good event for everyone. What's your problem?
