I'd say the only reason spacing hasn't been a disaster is because he's an intelligent player. Drummond is always lurking 5ft from the basket on the opposite side from Monroe, and Monroe likes to be near the block. Smith has been awesome in the post tonight when the opportunity is there, but you can find him in like 12 other spots around the court depending on the lineup and circumstances. I think I'm okay calling him a stretch-3 at this point, although we'll see against teams like Miami. But a legit outside SG would change things so much. I guess Chauncey fills the role, but I don't really expect him to be a 40% guy anymore, and so far he's acted more like a PG. All the other guards are not good outside shooters, and our "good" outside shooters like Singler are not actually that good at it. Also, the Pistons aren't really good at defense yet. I mean, the outcome is good because they're so tall and freaking talented, but they don't actually execute well on defense. The ceiling is so, so much higher than they're playing right now.

Don't know why they don't have Billups out on the court right now, they need that veteran experience to close out games.

Don't know why they don't have Billups out on the court right now, they need that veteran experience to close out games. Because it's game 3 of the season and they want to learn how to close out games without the crutch of Chauncey, in case he gets injured, worn down or eventually when he retires. At this point in the season, it's really not winning at all costs. It's figuring out the team. And they figured it out and scored the last 8. A lot of the turnovers were the team getting complacent/flashy when they got the big lead. :/ It'll be a while until I'm sold on Cheeks as HC. We saw it early in the 3rd quarter, but the players never got reigned in. Maybe he's letting them figure it out. Who knows... I'd like to see KCP though. Those Stuckey/Bynum/Jennings (pick 2 of 3) lineups didn't look great. Feels like we have 3 slashing combo guards and 0 SGs. I know KCP isn't shooting that well either, but gotta build some confidence for him.

Last few seconds of the third quarter. Take .99 probability 2 points through a 2 on 1 fast break, or spot up 3 pointer with no time left to rebound/putback? HMMMM So far this season, Carmelo has scored 56 points on 55 shots. I'll take JSmoove over that. ![]()
