Sorry, I just found out what RSL stands for, but that's a stupid name if I ever knew one. The options for choosing it would be 1) pretending to have ties to some royal family in a republic nation, 2) distancing itself from another club, 'fake' salt lake, 3) keeping it 'real', 4) sounding like a good side from Europe, like Real Oviedo.
|
Option number 4, it's Utah.

Rumor was flying today that Didier Drogba's going to Seattle after this season.
|
^ Most likely true because Galatasaray not going to renew contract with him.
|
Would be interesting to see how that ends up happening given that Seattle already has the maximum 3 Designated Players (player's that make more than the max salary allowed for the league) in Oba Martins, Dempsey and Osvaldo Alonso. Maybe MLS will decide 4 is ok?
|
I could see Seattle selling Alonso to make room. Also:
David Beckham is set to return to Major League Soccer on Wednesday, this time as an owner of a Miami team that will become the league’s 22nd club.
Beckham and Don Garber, the commissioner of M.L.S., will announce the awarding of the new team at a news conference in Miami on Wednesday, two people familiar with the deal said. The team will not begin play in M.L.S. until at least 2016.
The league values its association with Beckham. As part of his original contract when he joined M.L.S. as a player in 2007, he was granted the right to buy a team — with some limits on its location — for what would be the below-market rate of $25 million.

Rummenigge: Uefa should take action against PSG
http://www.goal.com/en/news/15/germany/2014/02/05/4596460/rummenigge-uefa-should-take-action-against-psg
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has urged Uefa to take action against Paris Saint-Germain if they breach Financial Fair Play (FFP) as the rules are set to come into force July 1.
The Bayern chief recently voiced his concerns with PSG's spending and he has now called on Uefa president Michel Platini to punish the Ligue 1 champions if they indeed fail to comply with the regulations.
"It's hard to imagine that Paris Saint-Germain are complying with Financial Fair Play. We all know about the money stream coming in from Qatar, allegedly about €200 million per season," Rummenigge said at the SpoBiS convention.

Sorry they don't just hand you the trophy at the start of every year

What they need to do is put a limit on sponsorship deals. Man City is able to comply with FFP by having 200 million dollar (not exactly sure of figure lol) sponsorship deals with the owner's brother/cousin's company lol.
Still highly skeptical that FFP is ever going to work. If clubs come along and buy out all the talent, how long is it going to be feasible to prevent them from playing in the premier competition to showcase this talent.
|
btw, this night Real Madrid vs Atletico Derby in the Spanish Cup at 20:00. It is the first leg at Bernabeu Stadium.

People with a lot of money will always find loopholes. They find ways to cheat their own country's system, let alone one made by a corrupt FIFA/UEFA.
There have always been clubs that suck the talent out of their own league, long before Americans/Russians/Arabs came along. Even the American francise/drafting system can't stop it.

Oh RM - atletico is today? Can't wait.

Ronaldo gets 3 match ban for his red card which wasn't. Fair enough...HOWEVER the 3 man batch doesn't count for tonight's game against Atletico? Why not....who knows xD

You shouldn't bring the American systems into this. Firstly, it can - look at the NFL - look how retarded Dallas have been despite their owner having ludicrously deep pockets and them having once been known as 'America's Team'. Secondly, the American sports leagues pretty much have control of how much they let this occur. Not so with football.
Aside from that...yeah I find it hard to disagree. There is no unity or centralised control. If one league wants to start sucking, it can impose caps on salaries like in MLS and drive all the players away to better paid leagues.
Perhaps if they went super hard, like with a ludicrous, iron-hard mentality - for example first of all putting a more developed system of limits on all possible streams of money into a team's capital and secondly UEFA working with FIFA and banning all players who play for a team which breaks FFP from participating in the next world cup; they might get it to work. Otherwise I just can't see a situation where UEFA isn't forced to back down.
Otherwise, maybe just leave it to the laissez faire arms race and see what happens...

Probably because he got the card in a league game so he's out for 3 league games not for cup games.

Ah in England it counts as both. Obviously not Europe games but it counts for FA Cup - League Cup and Domestic League :S

Mancini signed a wonderkid from Argentina :> Lucas Ontivero. He is really really good. Reminds me Aguero keke :3
Galatasaray used around 20-22M in this transfer window.
Koray Günter - 2.5m from BVB (19 years old) Alex Nicolao Telles - 7m from Grémio( 21 years old) Salih Dursun - 2.7m from Kayserspor (22 years old) Veysel Sari - 4m from Eskisehirspor (25 years old) Umut Gundogan - 1.5m from Bucaspor (23 years old) Izet Hajrovic - 3.5m from Zürich (22 years old) Lucas Ontivero - 2m from Fénix (19 years old)
Gala also loan Boca Junior's defender Guillermo Burdisso.
Released Players:
Dany to Besiktas (loan but they can buy end of the season) Albert Riera (mutual termination) Nordin Amrabat to Malaga (loan but they can buy end of the season)
Mancini is really know what is he doing. Our team was really old that we needed young players.

Manchester City has apparently signed an agreement with Porto's Fernando, for a free transfer at the end of this year.

It's all Mancini :3 TBH Fatih Terim is one of the best but his squad planning was quite poor. He actually wanted 31 years old Kaka instead 28 yo Sneijder :/
oh and we most likely going to sell Aurélien Chedjou to Ligue 1 again.
