Guess they're all in on davis at center with smith backing him up.

Yep, good pick-up for the Bulls.

TTT, I largely agree with what you're saying but everything with that team hinges on Davis' growth. If goes Kevin Garnett 2.0 then the Pelos will be very good. If he's more Chris Bosh then their ceiling becomes more limited. Davis will be good but how good will determine the Pelos future. They're sick of sucking though.

It's also probably the most exciting my offseason is going to get. Robinson's probably leaving, we have 3 PGs already and someone's going to offer pretty good money (surprised we haven't heard anything yet really, with the way he carried the Bull's offense last season), Bellinelli's probably gone, we don't really have space to make any other moves- Boozer is pretty much untradable with that contract and we're not going to get something back we need w/equal value for Deng. I'm pretty satisfied with this, the rest of the offseason is pretty much just hoping Rose can play like he used to.

I hope Knicks can keep Copeland, he basically played like Melo whenever Melo sat out.

Well he does have an egregiously high usage rate and really does nothing but score so maybe there's some truth there

Am I crazy for wanting Josh Smith over Greg Monroe? Monroe has youth and character, and Smith is older and crazier, but Smith is an exceptional defender and Monroe is below average. Neither of them can do much outside of the paint, but Smith has a better mid-range... if only he'd cut down on 3's.

I think Monroe is overvalued right now because of good numbers on a bad team + youth, but his ceiling is limited as he's slow and not that athletic. I think I would rather sign Smith and trade Monroe.

What's Monroe's contract like? Cause if you get JSmoove you'd probably have to pay him the max.

Monroe's still got a year on his rookie contract but I'm sure he'll demand a max salary. The biggest uncertainty is Drummond and how healthy he can stay. It was a freak injury but Monroe is like an insurance policy. Still, he's like a slow workhorse. Unless he actually becomes good on defense, I don't think he's worth it, which will be tough without athleticism.

monroe getting max? holy moly. i actually watched a lot of pistons game this season (only because i had monroe on my fantasy team) and he was so incredibly inconsistent and pretty much useless outside of 6feet...drummond is a much much better prospect

I don't think either player moves the needle much in the current Pistons context. Both third option type guys. Given the youth movement at the Pistons and the time needed for Drummond to develop, I'd be inclined to stick with the cheaper option in Monroe. Smoove will cost too much compared to what he can offer.

Haven't the Pistons learnt from Charlie V about signing overpriced PFs?

Source said they won't, but they haven't made an actual offer yet.

And yeah, Monroe is like fool's gold right now. Well built, durable 6'11" guy averaging 16/10. He has one of the best post games of a young player and he works for rebounds, but he doesn't do much else and he's bad on defense. I don't mean bad as in average, I mean below average.

I think Smoove gets too much hate. He makes bad decisions, but he's an all-around player. Not just a high flyer, actually really great defense.

Potential and size always drive prices up.

If the Pistons aren't offering Smith the max I doubt they'll get him.

Other free-agent stuff I expect to hear about soon- Nate Robinson and JR Smith. Both likely to get huge pay increases, wonder who's going to pay for either.

Jesus, Bogut might end up on the Lakers.

I might have to quit the NBA if that happens. The cognitive dissonance would be too much for me to handle.

It's possible, but seems unlikely that the Lakers would trade Dwight for Bogut. The Lakers would be better off letting Dwight walk, getting the cap space and tanking for one year, (not like they would be contenders with Bogut and Thompson or Barnes anyway), and then hope to get a great draft pick and then go for a big free agent pick up.

They're too good to tank right now. Even without Kobe I can't see them being worse than real cellar-dwellers. If they're realistic about a Wiggins tank then they need to gut the roster: Pau, Nash, Metta and sit Kobe for the year.

If Kobe's ready to play there's no way he's going to sit.

Haha, Bogut and Thompson for Howard was my dream scenario when I heard it like a month ago. I just don't see why GS would do that though (well I mean I do but the lakers just get too much imo). Bogut only has a year left on contract IRC, and he might actually be good this year if healthy.

Howard is looking for a team where he will be the #1 or #1-and-a-half option. Houston is that team. Anyways if there's anyone who can take advantage of him in the post, its McHale.
