ill concede the leafs are anothing other than a team playing way above their heads if theyre still in a playoff position at the end of the season. they always seem competent to start and then all the holes show up.

pit-phi game is on nbc now and is pretty chippy. i love watchign these two teams go at it, even if it usually means atrocious defense

This game is madness now...
They say that life's a carousel, spinning fast you've gotta ride it well, the world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams, it's heaven and hell, oh well.

I'm not one to call a goal bullshit or lucky, but really? That's how the Pens lose? -_-

46 days after their last AHL game, Jordan Eberle and Justin Schultz are still 1 and 2 in league scoring lead. thats really really funny to me, but it gives a neat perspective of how big the jump to the NHL is

makes sense based on how awful both teams were in their own end and in net

since that playoff series, they've both been fucking awful in their own end, but it still manages to be really entertaining

Game Flyers Pens
1 4 3 7
2 8 5 13
3 8 4 12
4 3 10 13
5 2 3 5
6 5 1 6
RS1 1 3 4
RS2 6 5 11
TOTAL 37 34 71

71 goals in 8 games against since then lol

hockey yall

other news: rick nash apparently didnt travel with the rangers. fuck my life. dude's been their best player by miles this year and it isn't even close. he's doing something positive every single game, almost every shift, even if he isnt scoring. gabby's got that level of talent as well. maybe it's his size, but he goes through stretches where he just disappeares and gets dominated. nash doesnt at all it seems

I was so amazed that the refs didn't blow the whistle on that. There was no way that one guy at the net had sight of the puck the entire time T_T

that's what i was thinking too but i think the top down view is a bit better and to his credit the ref is right in that shit

when in question id rather them wait the extra second than blow it early

Dirty mother fucker Hall takes out Clutterbuck near center ice with a knee/hip shot when Clutterbuck's head was turned. Was ejected + 5 minute major near the end of the game. Glad those bastards lost 3-1 and I hope Hall gets suspended for that shit.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

Eh. his knee is never really extended outward. it's not like that avs dude who got suspended last year for a real blatant one. i think it is a little bit of a stretch to call that dirty. oh well well see what shanny says

other things that happened:

chris kreider nearly killed Anderson when methot took his skates out and he slid into the side of Anderson's knee

My bias dictates that I have absolutely no problem with Taylor Hall becoming more like Mark Messier. Though in that case it would have been more elbow-on-face than knee-on-thigh.

Never like to see a player get injured. Even if it's Clutterbuck.

If they suspend him (probably will, new NHL and all), I'll be interested to see the shanna-points. Probably call it 'wreckless' or something, since it doesn't appear as though there was a knee injury on the play (Clutterbuck is reportedly dealing with a thigh injury).
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

most of the internets is pretty split on it, it seems. If that's an intentional knee, it's a really sneaky one. the worst they should do is fine him

At any rate, I can't say I feel particularly sympathetic for a dude who constantly takes runs at people while wearing a visor and hardly ever fights

Props to Chicago for breaking the record set by Anaheim and I see Hawk is still a non-believer when it comes to the Leafs and their fortune. Truth be told I wasn't too thrilled with their defensive coverage and puck possession over the last five games; however, there's still a lot of things to like. For instance, Kessel is setting other guys up more and is creating more time and space for himself by starting and stopping. Phaneuf is getting is shot down lower and what do you know he took a one-timer the other night (something I was hoping JVR would do on the first attempt considering it only takes a fraction of a second for Miller to cut across). Anyway, back to Phaneuf and look at the point streak he's currently on now since he's spending less time with the puck, getting good movement and ultimately shooting LOW. Oh look, Cody Franson now has 11 points because they're giving him more playing time. I asked for Carlyle to give him more potent minutes and to cut down on Kostka/Phaneuf's time. Pretty much everything I had asked prior is starting to go the Leafs way.

Hawk just because they collapsed last season doesn't mean it will happen the next. In fact, the old Leaf credo would be for them to fall off around Dec to Feb taking them completely out of the picture only to start making a run too late for several seasons but really irrelevant because like I said. That was that season and I see no reason to dissect it.

I don't know man. Seems like you watch a lot of highlights but I don't think you pay close enough attention to the Marlies let alone the Leafs. From the sound of it, I get the sense that you feel they can make it this year but not the next. Yeah, that's because it's a completely different season. Don't dwell on the past. That and look at how many guys they would have to sign next year which includes: Kostka, Franson and Gardiner.

In either case, I do like this year's team considering we're much bigger, we lead the league in hits and we can fight (lead the league in fights too) and have a lot of weapons. The Leafs are a good hockey club for once and come playoff time and I can finally say we'll be tough to play against. Carolina and the Bruins still seem to have their number though!

Also, I noticed you guys were commenting on the analysts. That's not entirely true when it comes to the commentary on the face-offs whether it be defensive zone or offensive zone and their percentages. For instance, when we got David Steckel from the Devils even Ron Wilson was using him as a specialist when it came to the draw because of his percentages. They commented on it regularly last season. I don't mind the commentary let alone the analysts all that much on either side of the border in the same vein we don't expect a whole lot out of the SC2 commentators. The experts don't really need to be told in either case because we see it for ourselves.

There is one other thing I'd like to comment on and that's Vladimir Tarasenko. I think we all knew that it was a matter of time before this guy would get rocked because he keeps his head down a lot and the way he positions himself on the boards. Lots of analysts were commenting on this before and what do you know! He's now on the IR lol. Got to keep your head on a swivel me boy! He had it coming sadly.

Eh, that's a hard one to call. I don't he hit him in the head, but he probably still deserves at least one game. The league is probably afraid to suspend him because then it will set a precedent and they'll have to suspend people for similar stuff which they wouldn't normally.

he jumped into the hit, and drilled him in the spine and back of his head with his forearm and elbow

on what planet is that not a suspension worthy play (besides this one )? this was also a retalitory hit from earlier in the game

i cant wait for a plugger like asham to take his fucking head off next time. the league doesnt suspend for blatant cheap shots by a coward to afraid to fight to get his revenge, but has no problem suspending players for slight contact to the head on a shot where two people are moving really fast. it's ridiculous

Vancouver has somehow been doing worse since Kesler returned. Only two wins in 7 games. At least two of them were in the shoot out.

thats because AHL is weak , teams send their bad/late picks there, most players outhere are getting old (take Parenteau who finally got out of AHL at 29, to get better you need good oponents). it takes alot of them dont make it to the NHL, unlike OHL and LHJMQ where the skill level is high even though players are really young (ithink there an Age limit in canadian leagues). of course the NHL skill level is so high thats why most player in the minor leagues don't make it.

same goes for KHL, malkin, kovalchuk and oveshkin are still up there in top 40.

who the hell is clutterbuck? usually the good players get smashed not the scrubs.

anyways its the League s problem nowadays they dont punish properly while restricting retaliation. backthen if yo had your player knocked out, the whole team was on your case, people were then not tempted to act like this.

i agree for a clean hockey league with less hits, but you have to impose it not have an "inbetween" stand.
