once Ovechkin gets accustomed to the crap ice surfaces in the NHL he'll stop falling over.

It isn't just this season that he is falling over, it is how he plays. It is just before in his career, he played like a Master Drunken Boxer, scoring from his knees or sliding into the boards. Now he is just playing like a drunk in a bar. (That analogy peetered out before it could get going)

I don't believe it is the surface as it doesn't look like other players that are returning from the KHL are having trouble with their footing. I wish it was as simple as him being not used to the ice, I really do.

you are right, the dude is falling over and over again on the ice. Its like suddenly the ice became slippery. We saw this during the WC matches too, so its not the NHL thing.

It may have something to do with his loose scates but mostly yes, his scating is and always was very dirty. I don't think this is a problem by itself, but falling and losing a puck which leads to an advantage of opponent team is a shitty habbit.

For all hockey fans over here a good highlight video of Datsyuk.

Cheers!

You can just arbitrarily claim this, but then you have to explain why don't other players have any problems with the ice?
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

Time Warner cable in San Diego doesn't NHL Network. What the fuck. Can't watch the sharks game because it's broadcast on that network and thus the gamecenter app that costs $50 won't broadcast it.

They don't have a local channel too? Usually when they do that in michigan it's on that channel and fox sports detroit.

Clearly the referees must have thought the Blue Jackets were the Red Wings, and Tomas Holmstrom hadn't retired yet.

So far this game Vancouver has learned that passing it to the other team in your zone isn't a very good idea.

They're fun to watch, but Christ, these guys are single-handedly killing my fantasy team (everyone in the pool has someone from SJ except me x.x).

Sharks are looking insanely good. But then again, they usually do in the regular season [last year being the exception.]
Cant tell what the Canucks problem is, so manic. Play a decent tight game one day, get blown way the fuck out of the water the next. And its the same defense and goalie too.

Could be worst. Last year I had Miller and Luongo as my two goalies and lost my fantasy league when they collapsed in the last month so this year I, traumatized, went for a 'goalies first' strategy and used my 1st and 3rd pick...on Quick and Schneider. Doh!

Partially his problem is that Hunter's defense first approach broke even the good aspects of his game, his unbridled aggression and speed. Now he 'tries' to play defense, falls down, looks awful.

MTL having a great opening so far 3-1-0. That and Galchenyuk, this year's first pick is doing really well.

Only thing that is scary, and reminds of how weak we are offensively : Our D are the top players of the team. Hopefully, our 1st-2nd line start scoring more!

Late pick Markov in my pool has proven itself to be diamond!

EDIT : To sharks fans, how is Gomez doing?

To outsiders, any rumours about our unsigned Subban?

Honestly the Sharks play doesn't look *as* impressive as the results they are putting up. They are playing sloppy, but almost seemingly getting lucky on a lot of plays (I know, it sounds dumb). For example, vs the Oilers they played terrible in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Vs the Canucks today they played awful in the second and a lot of the third. At the same time, the Canucks hit the post like 5-6 times that game.

It seems to me like the Sharks are just dominating in the opening period, then holding on for dear life in the other periods. At the same time, it feels like they are playing mediocre, except for on the powerplay, where they're just dominating more than one would expect.

Their penalty kill looked solid today though as they held the Canucks 0-7.

Redden has two goals in three games so far. The last season he played in the NHL he got two goals in 75 games.

They're 3-0-1 to start?? I don't see how they are screwed at all. It will hurt, but Kovy looked scary good last year. Elias is still a stud, Zajac is still pretty good and they've got a bunch of other very solid forwards. I think you can also expect Henrique to get even better. Marty has looked good so far and a short season is perfect for him at this point in his career

They're absolutely still good enough to get a playoff spot in the east.

I would like you all to know that this first goal caused a chubby so hard that I thought I was gonna faint. Richards Gabby and Nash is a goddamn mean line. With guys like MDZ feeding it with passes like that?? a;lsdkfja;lsdfkjad;s

Unfortunately, the last couple games have shown what that trade did to the Rangers depth. Losing Dubi and Arty meant that Hagelin and Kreider were really gonan have to step it up and they've looked quite meh (hagelin) or outright shit (kreider) through 3. Torts said that Kreider might be AHL bound shortly. I don't doubt that he will come around because the dude is young and has got skills, but the A might be better now.

It just unfortunately leaves a big ass hole.

Nash-Richards-Gabby
Hagelin-Stepan-Cally
Kreider/AHL player-Boyle-Pyatt
Rupp-Halpurn-Asham

Those top six guys will probably shuffle a bit, but that bottom six ahhhhhh

Why'd yall get Nash anyway? Lundquist is doing his thing but he cant help it if you have one line.

...That's not a pretty good 2nd?? You've got two 50+ guys in Stepan and Cally and a guy who'd probably hit 50 in a full 82 in Hagelin. plus you could always bounce around guys in the top 6 to balance it out if that 2nd was meh. Even as I listed above, most teams would be pretty happy to have that.

The Rangers issue is their bottom six blows now, especially since Kreider has looked like ass to start. Arty and Dubi would have gotten a lot of minutes there and they're better than any of the options currently.

The reason they traded is because the Rangers under Torts have always had an issue scoring. Arty and Dubi were good for 2nd or 3rd minutes, but on the first they weren't truly dynamic players. Nash is a stud offensively, and pretty much fits the Rangers system perfectly since he's really good on the forecheck (they dump and chase all day, even if it makes zero sense to do so at times) and is pretty decent in his own end.

So far watching the games Stepan and Hagelin seem pretty invisible. Wasnt that the whole reason why Gaborik was moved up to the Nash-Richards line in place of Hagelin to increase offensive output because no one else was doing itl? And wasnt Anisomov on his way to becoming a 2nd line center himself, Filipula-ish in his contributions so Stepan could skate on the wing? Anyway, I dont watch every Rangers game so I dont know but seems like a lot was given up for Nash.

But I guess its really hard to tell in a short season, next year will be the year when people get a real training camp and October/November games to warm up.

Hagelin has definitely been playing like ass, but Stepan's been playing well. Either way, based on how he looked last year, I fully expect Hagelin to get back up to form which is like 50pts over a season. Kreider's more of the wildcard, since he didn't play as much last year and looks like shit now.

Arty was weird. He was very very inconsistent. Showed flashes of skill, but also a total lack of awareness (he had a bad penchant for getting lit up with his head down and for the occasional shitty turnover). He was more a 2/3 tweener. Dubi was more of a 2nd line guy who had a horrible season to start last year, and it got worse because he lost all his ice time and coculdn't gain it back. He's more consistent than Arty, and better in his own end and more physical. They got moved because they were both too good (and paid too much) to be getting 3rd minutes, but not really good enough to warrant consistent 1st minutes and really drive the offense.

I was more upset about the Nash deal because of Nash's contract than I was what they gave up.

Don't get me wrong, Dubi was probably my favorite ranger not named Hank, but ultimately he was expendable because of his own price and the play of guys like Hagelin, Stepan, Cally, etc. He basically got bounced out of the top 6 with no chance to get back in it. But I think he's a 50pt guy or with top 6 minutes on most teams for sure. Arty I think is near his peak as well. Erixon apparently wasn't able to crack CBJ's roster, which says a lot about him. Plus, the Rangers had a log jam on their NHL roster at defense (even moreso if Sauer's brains weren't scrambled). And they've got Mclrath and maybe one or two other guys who could come up in the next couple of years from the A. The first is whatever. It was gonna be a top 20 pick at best. When you're that close to the cup you can afford to throw those into a deal.

Ultimtaely what it came down to was that replacing a 3rd liner through your farm team or UFA is a hell of a lot easier than getting an elite scorer. Nash has looked very good thus far and generates way more quality chances on his own than Dubi or Arty ever did. The Rangers struggled on offense a lot last year and he's a big help now. I think when they get into form over the enxt few weeks they'll be really scary. McDonugh already looks great, and the rest of the D and Hank are just catching up now

Didn't realize but the Yotes deadline with Jamesion is 3 days away. This whole thing is a farce. If he doesn't have the backers at this point, he isn't getting them, or he'll get them and be in the same spot in 3 years.

Say hello to Seattle!
