Last week I pulled 110 kg a little sloppily for 5 reps. Monday I couldn't do 115kg at all. Today, I couldn't do 115 kg at all again, but 110 kg went up pretty easily. Frustrating -_-; Monday I also did the 3x5 100 kg squats and then my right side lower back (basically my ass) was hurting... I had slipped down a mountain last week and didn't really feel it until after squatting.

Didn't squat heavy the rest of the week.... hope to get 5x5 100kg on Monday, as long as I feel 100%.

@SoleSteeler you'll get 115kg ezpz soon man, considering what you are squatting. Might just need to give your back a break for a few days. Deadlifts can wreck me like no other lift sometimes.

Woohoo, 5x5 at 100 kg squats this morning. A few reps were a bit iffy, one wasn't very good at all. But I guess that's not too bad for a "PR" (I say "PR" because I've never tried a max one rep). Overall pretty satisfied. I tweaked my shoulder about 3 weeks ago, and I've been doing very light weights with it ever since. Today I benched 70 kg 5x5 and it felt good. Previously I was stuck at 75 kg so hopefully this Friday I can at least get 1 or 2 sets of 5 at it, finally... In the past I've only gotten 3 reps in my best set.

@ SoleSteeler Dude, a PR (Personal Record) is a PR, doesn't have to be a 1RM. Nice work man!

@cambium I just started working on snatches again. Turns out I still suck so I started over, but I'm gonna try to catch up with you soon

I hit a 60kg snatch too last Saturday I'll post the video on the Weightlifting thread when I get around to it But if you can essentially power snatch that much, I bet you can full snatch a shitload once you get good technique for going under the bar and such

Been doing "typical" hypertrophy exercises for almost 8 years now... Just started with a 'full' olympic style program when finals began. I noticed my main weakness is, obviously, flexibility. All the power I built up is useless if I can't keep my shoulders up on a front/overhead squat.

So I go from a 3 plate deadlift to snatching and cleaning the bar (not that I would ever give up dls) and it feels amazing. I can feel my hips opening up with all the pigeon stretches and hip flexor stretches. Not to mention getting your heart rate up to cardio levels when you're doing 5 second clean into front squat into overhead presses. I always end with something heavy just to get that 'pump' though.

When you guys were training something complicated like a clean and jerk, how long did it take to get the right flexibility? How long until you were jerking what you could strict press?

Still working on it. Been olympic lifting about 3 years seriously. I have never been able to press or push press as much as I can jerk, i never understood how that is even possible T_T (my jerk is at least 40kg over my best push press and almost double my best press).
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

That's normal... I'm still working on jerking what I can press. Maybe it has something to do with muscle fibers being trained for slow, methodical movements as opposed to fast twitchy power.

EDIT: and obviously flexibility at the hip/ankle. Been doing Asian squats every day to help that one.

Yeah they're obviously two completely different movements. If you put up a vid we can try to help you out with the technique a bit!

Once I stop feeling like Charlie Chaplin I'll be sure to get some advice. Hit my chin on a clean and fell backwards on a snatch into overhead squat today. I swear the radio was playing yakety sax at some point. Good news is I had a lot of fun being all the way at the bottom again

Missed 405 dl, missed 315 squat, hit 285 on bench. I don't know how I turned into such a fucking curl bro. Only goal this break is to break out of 3 plate/2plate respectively

Squatted up to 185 but I think I'm still getting some hyperextension in my lower back even at that weight. blargh.

On a more positive note, pr'd OHP again! 140 3,1 If you had told me I'd be pressing that much a month or two ago I wouldn't have believed you. Lowering the reps and upping the weight is doing work for me.

Made it to the gym tonight. 75 kg bench 3 reps, 2 reps, 4 reps (a bit of a bounce off the chest...) 2 reps, 2 reps. Satisfied for now since I'm stressed/tired.

80 kg high bar squat 5x5 felt great. Since i can do 105 kg low bar squat... Maybe I'll get back up to that in high bar fairly quickly. I find it easier to keep good form with the high bar squat compared to the low bar, for whatever reason.
