Its a lot like a vertical leg press (yes those exist). In case it wasnt clear, he was also doing the hang cleans on the smith - thats the main thing that made me wtf. Like how do you get educated enough tp try hang cleans eithout learning the smith is bad? Also saw a guy using a 30 lb fixed barbell and sitting up on the decline bench, simulating paddling a kayak. I guess thats one way to get an ab workout?

Also, that simulated kayaking seems pretty intense for your abs lol

![]() 95kg x 5 x 2kg (was my max set; I did a bunch of warmups and wanted to get a feeling of my injury. there was no PAIN at all. I was scared as fuck, but focused on form and I was super happy!.) Did some presses. then 50kg x front-squat+press x 3 x 5. 1x8 biceps curls. Some light presses. Not a bad first day at the gym. ![]() ![]() That was my "calorie" intake for the day, trying to lose some fat and gain some musclemass

Well, I have never used a smith machine (proud of that) so I don't know if there would be a safety feature for that. Also, that simulated kayaking seems pretty intense for your abs lol most smith machines have a hard stop ~18 inches off the floor, so there isn't really a danger of it crushing him if it were to slip off his feet. Actually, he was lowering it as far as he could then dropping it to that hard stop to get out from under it (because you can't really "turn" the bar to lock it in place when it's only in contact with your feet). Anyway, back squatted today. Really light, but it felt damn good to do. Been doing front squats for a while, but this is the first back squat work out in a long time.

Woke up as sick as shit, couldn't sleep because of my driping nose. Didn't matter, did lots of stuff I had to do, took enough coffee/tea and headed to the gym. There was a huge traffic jam because tomorrow is holiday (fucking national holidays, they close the gym), thought I wouldn't make it, but just got there in time. Funny how my nose keeps driping and did before the gym, but while in there 0 illness FS: 120kgx3x10 (last one came with a huge grunt, almost got stuck at the bottom) OHP: 60kgx5x3, 4x1, 3x3 AB Wheel, Tricep Pushdowns 20x3 Shit felt awesome. One of those moments where all the odds are against you, you man up, and you beat your training log. I'm the biggest/leanest (gotta lean more imo) and prolly strongest I've ever been, 81kg at 1.70cm. I'm pressing more, back squating more and shrugging more than I ever have. Cant wait to max on squat in 3-5 weeks, will hold on on BP for my uni competition and unfortunatately I cant drop bars in any gyms so I've replaced deadlifts with RDL and shrugs so no max there. Can't wait to switch from my get bigger aproach to pure strength again when I'm big enough (83 or 85kg) and crush everything. Nationals are in november (yup, lots of time), I checked last one results and with 700kg at 83kg I'm in for best wilks, with 720-740kg prolly win for sure. The catch, its single ply. My last total was 602.5kg, then I added 15kg to my deadlift. Each suit adds 20kg to the lift just from wearing it (expensive as shit though t.t) and a new pair of wraps should bring in another 10kg Total = 687kg. So basically get a bit a stronger, and crush everyone.

I looked in to that once - there's actually a physiological response to exercise your body undergoes that opposes the response to being sick, but I can't remember any of the specifics. I'm a bad biology student. Basically your body says "oops, I'm exercising. Better focus on breathing - that's more important right now than getting bacteria out". It's cool stuff. as for the meet - good luck! Since you have plenty of time, do you expect to be doing most of your training raw, and then using the suit when it gets closer? Or do you want to spend more time adapting to the equipment rather than just getting stronger? IIRC, you've never competed in an equipped meet and I'm told it takes quite a bit of getting used to.

That should be enough for 20kg; my long term goal is to get really strong, wining is just a very nice bonus.
