I've just found a crossfit gym that I can 1) afford 2) it's less than 3 miles from where I live and 3) their WOD programming doesn't look completely stupid (2 of the other 4 in the area are AWFUL).
I think once the snow melts, I'm going to sign up there. I know from experience that spending money on a gym membership makes me more inclined to hit the gym, and I have a feeling the group atmosphere of a crossfit is what I need to start setting PRs again. I've wanted to try it for a while, anyway.
So I have ~1.5 months to get myself in shape and get my hip completely straightened out (MAJOR imbalances after 6 months out of place =() then I'll be trying it.

I am currently legitimately worried I will never do sports again. Or never walk straight again Thanks broski, you hang in there too, though in your case you will surely need alot more rest than I did. Just don't rush it.

I'd recommend to anyone to let it heal first, but, as some do say "Do as I say, not as I do".
I'm not waiting anymore, I still have pain in my glute, like really annoying pain, but I'm not waiting anymore, it either breaks or I break it. I can't stand not doing squats and deadlifts, life sucks without those two.

Went to an archery range yesterday and I would like to recommend it to everyone, to at least try it out! At least you can get nice pictures of you: + Show Spoiler +
A little off topic bragpost: + Show Spoiler +I just found out that the Systems Biology team I had my internship at last summer finally published their work on the Reconstruction of Human Metabolism and it even had a small part on the small team I "led" in making an interactive map and in no lesser journals than Nature Biotechnology! http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/03/130303155002.htm#.UTXHatM4ipg.facebookSadly they haven't finished putting the map online so I only have the rough draft I saved at the end of summer. 100% made my day!

I am slowly approaching my 'reset' target. I was comfortably doing 160kg squats but with poor depth. I had to reset to 100kg and I have broken into 150kg x 3-5 territory. So soon I will be at my target of 160kg. Then on to the big 200...wonder how long that will take only squatting once a week :/

I went from 120kg (last year's january) to a 182kg (november) last year. Started squatting everyday, to the max. .

Can anyone recommend me a good program for a beginner I'm just walking around doing stuff that's available? I'm only going once a week with friends to the gym, but once exams are over I'm thinking about 2/3 times a week. I don't want to lose any weight whatsoever. My body fat is really low; I'm just looking to gain muscle mass. And do you guys have any other do's and don'ts for in the gym regarding the exercises? Also, the first time I went to the gym I couldn't move my arms for a week haha.

Edit: Check the stickies. All the info is there.

Shoveling has to be one of the worst movements ever. It's impossible to do in a way where you feel you're not messing something up.

I haven't done any extensive shovelling, but lifting heavy shit made fucking shit up infinitely harder for me. By the way, is anybody here into bodybuilding?
