This season Barcelona conceded way more goals per game than usual, meaning they have become more vulnerable in defense, so that's certainly a problem. Celtic scored 3 goals against them in the two games, that's way too much. And concerning the 5 shots on target by Celtic: A good defense does not only reduce the quantity of the opponent's goal attempts, but also their quality. | ||

But I think one of the major adjustments is just to play a little more conservatively for most of the game. They aren't struggling cause teams are holding them to 0-0 right now, they are struggling cause they are falling behind in tons of games. They don't need to be pushing 8 people forward from the start, they are good enough to keep control and possession offensively without needing that kind of numbers, and then you aren't leaving a defense of Mascherano and Bartra so exposed. It also might get other teams not sitting back so much, entice them out a little, and once they do that Barcelona becomes a huge favorite to score. And if they don't do that, then you can increase the pressure as you go, instead of leaving your defense mostly exposed for almost 90 minutes. I don't think offensive stubbornness is really a problem, other teams still wish they could create nearly as many chances. But they stubbornly refuse to adjust to what they have defensively. If they want to play like they are now, they really need at least one more strong, fast and preferably tall athletic defender. | ||

almost all defenders are in the box, barca always have free players around the box but never try to use them to shoot. | ||

Why do they need to take panicked shots when they are even ? I dont see what the point is here. They take just as many decent shots as they take bad ones mind you. It still playing a harder to win lottery. Real competitors dont bet on lotteries. The only reasons celtics shots are on target is because those are guilt edged. There is no reasont they wouldnt be. | ||
