Yes nobody is saying Barcelona are awful to watch however just because Celtic didn't do much in the way of attacking football does not mean they didn't put on a master class performance
Barcelona have been equally as lucky for what it's worth lest we forget the stellar refereeing of that Norwegian
@greggy no it occurs every time Barcelona loses to a team countering their style with defensive football
It's more exhausting for a defending team than an attacking team.
For the attackers the ball does 90% of the work, for the defenders you do 90% of the work and it's mentally taxing to every extreme. I hope if you plan to counter these points you at least have experience playing football above the kickabout in the park level
And from what I see in La Liga most of these teams don't park the bus in the slightest which seems to be why they come away with these 0-5 results

That's probably because I was grew up watching the 90s Arsenal and their rock solid back-line. Celtic defended brilliantly and were clinical when chances came their way, much like Chelsea were last year against the same opposition. As I've said countless times before (always when Barca lose like this), if there's an optimal way to beat a team, why the heck wouldn't you use it? To be "entertaining"? Fuck that. Your job, as players and coaches, is not to please the neutrals and the football purists; It's to be victorious. That's all that should matter. Celtic played with a legit tactic, and they won. Congrats to them.
As for Barca still not figuring out how to beat teams that deploy this strategy, I'm not sure they ever will. After Guardiola bought Ibra to try alternative ways of breaking through a stubborn defence, Barca seem to have stopped trying altogether. Maybe Tito will pick up where he left off, but I'd be very surprised if it actually took. In my humble opinion, I think Barca need more flair players on the wing. Their current flank options of Pedro, Sanchez, Villa, Alba, and Alves/Montoya, while very good - and capable of scoring/creating goals, doesn't really have anyone with the ability to magically create something from absolutely nothing. This is why I think the front line of Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Messi was the most potent and fearsome of them all. All 3 were capable of scoring/assisting with ease, and the two on the flank possessed the spark to do unspeakably wonderful things at any moment in the game. That's just me though. I suppose they could try and purchase a more traditional CF again, but I'm just not sure Barca will ever change their game enough to make that work.
But Dinho Messi Etoo never achieved anything, you gotta consider the teamplay aspect, this is why Guardiola decided to get rid of Etoo, Toure and Ibra... I think the year they bought Ibra, they were trying to get Villa but they didnt succeed so they took the other available option. Imo, the best Fcb team of the last decade was the 2011 one which won the CL with Villa Pedro and Messi because their wings were really strong and balanced, and they had really a great control in every game the played. As I said, if you start adding a Real CF it will mess with the Messi-centered playstyle and its been working well (you cant really expect to win the Champions and La Liga every year).

I repeat, when a team faces Fcb, in Champions in Copa or in Liga, they play their game of the year... EVERY WEEK you are facing a team that is playing at 200% of its capacities, yes thats exhausting... In la liga actually there are a lot of teams parking the bus against Barcelona but they tend to explode after taking the first goal...

What I want to know is why is Song starting for Barcelona? He didn't shore up their defensive flaws as well as they hoped (I presume) and he doesn't appear to offer much going forward. So what's the deal?

Busquets suspended, Mascherano in Center back because of injured players, theres nobody else than him and I agree I dont find him very useful. Keita was much more valuable I guess he needs some more time to adapt!

Why are you do intent on defending barcelona losing to Celtic? We all know who the superior side is however Celtic played to barcelonas weakness and deserve every bit of attention they're getting right now
Sometimes you just have to step back, suck it up and say well done
And Celtic doesn't play games like that every weak infact they play against pretty piss poor opposition week in week out 2 games against rangers used to be the most high level SPL games you'd see a season (not sure how that is now with the rangers situation didn't see if it got fixed or they went under) Scottish clubs in the champions league are usually regarded as well as having Scotland or Wales or Ireland in your euro group

Sometimes you just have to step back, suck it up and say well done I'm not defending Barcelona on this game, imo they played a great game but they weren't efficient enough on the offensive part... I just said a draw would have been more fair since Celtic scored twice out of 3 shots and Barcelona hit the posts twice... Well played by Celtic, and as I said before i prefer them losing against this kind of team than against Chelsea playing like if they were Racing Santander...

Lucky goals are awarded for elegant football right?
It astounds me that people try to take credit away from teams that beat barcelona with a defensive display just because they don't play "beautiful" football that you would deny the time spent talking tactics, effort, mental fortitude, preparation and discipline is frankly really fucking disgusting

Nobody said anything like that, stop twisting words... The game was far from entertaining excepted from the celtic's supporter point of view, you can at least admit that... Sure they played really well but it doesnt take away the fact that their tactic was far from exciting to watch.

Rangers went bankrupt and reformed as a new club in the countries lowest league

I'm not a soccer/football fan (US resident), but I was looking at Celtic highlights on YouTube because of this upset. It lead me to Celtic fans singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" (YNWA) for their team and holy shit I got chills from that.

Yet were talking about a game where one team had 89% possesion and lost..... Sort it out guys Juventus got a tough task to qualify now! Need to either beat Chelsea @ Home or Shakthar Away. Juve should be able to beat Chelsea at home :D
edit: Chelsea's luck has to run out at some point. Seriously, if they wouldn't have scored a last-minute header their situation would be bleak

Guardiola got rid of Eto'o and brought in Ibra to replace him. Not really sure if you can lable that as a "teamplay" reason. You are also forgetting that Mourinho got Eto'o to play in service of Diego Milito and remember how he played against Barcelona when they went down a man? He played as a freaking left back, he is about as good of a teamplayer as it gets.
There were two reasons Guardiola got rid of Eto'o in favor of Ibra, one of which was, most likely, because Guardiola wanted a tall technical player, a weakness which was highlighted once again against Celtic and the other Eto'os poor behavior off the pitch. This didn't end up working well which is why David Villa was brought in, who still hasn't really made the same impact as Eto'o due to injuries. Not that it matters because the current Messi makes up for it most of the time.

Barca isn't entertaining to watch. Nice seeing Celtic do well.
Sad to see Shakhtar lose to Chelsea, I'm hoping Chelsea drops out at the group stage ^^ Less Premier League and La Liga this time for the yay's, more different kinds of teams and shit.
Malaga can do well, because it's my favourite Spanish team.

Opta Sports report that Celtic's 16.4% possession is the lowest ever to win a Champions League match.
