COME ON CHELS!!!! So gutted i cannot go tonight, some other fucker at my company got the ticket for tonight's match
your right, sorry for that.
I´m happy that not the same happened like last year, that half of the team(s) are suspendet because of yellow cards. the UEFA should really delete them for the final so the best possible teams can play with their best available personel.
100% agree, the final was robbed of some fucking good players. Ramires, for one who scored that epic goal in the Nou Camp, Merieles who at the time did a good job in the midfield for Chelsea, and of course Ivanovic, a beast! Was so sad that, especially considering you only need 2 yellow cards to get suspension right?
After a 3. and after the 5th.
Speaking of suspensions, yesterday i learnd a interesting fact: Phillipp Lahm, the right guard of bayern was never suspended by a red or yellow card. never. Not in Bundesliga, german pokal, champions league or national team. Never. He is arround for ~10 Years with roundabout 400 Games. As a frickin defender^^.
0_0 mad Respect!
It could be a bad thing. Often getting a yellow card is good for your team (ie. stopping counter-attacks in critical moments of the game, roughing up opponents). Not getting any yellow cards might mean that Lahm is not playing with the optimal levels of aggression. That or he just sweet talks referees in the beginnings of the games.
Nah, Lahm is just able to solve even hairy situations in a more or less lawful manner.
It´s a skill to contain and defend without fouls. It´s not that he is not willing to foul if its necessary, its just with his speed and his positional game he don´t have to 99% of the time.
One of the most underated players of this time in my opinion.
Lahm isn't underrated. Tons of clubs want him but realised a few years ago that he won't leave. So it's useless to talk about him.
And he also sacrificed his offensive abilities for more defensive quality
yep. pretty much evry club could benefit from a lahm. hes so damn consistent, fair and smart. alaba (whos fucking awesome too btw, and such a nice young guy) seems to do more now in the offense but without lahm both bayern and the german national team would be a whole class worse then now.
just coincidently rewatched the "highlights" on tv from the bayern barca game and apart from the obvious sick Robben Shot I just noticed what a fucking amazing pass that was from Alaba damn.

and he does sick assists all the time. and is so young. and defends amazing vs 10 year older expirienced world class stars. and is already in his 2nd championsleague final always starting on the field.
if he continues like this he will become an absolute beast that hopefully stays with bayern for a long time :>

Same goes for Schweinsteiger. i can't imagine team Germany without him.

There are many german fan's who feel the same way, they did grow up with this thought.
We won from time to time a few cups or showed good results, but it was never impressive. We did watch to other countrys and saw their starplayers and their huge transfer fees. For me, I realized we were 2nd class in football.
In the year 2000 after a horrible Euro for Germany (out in the groupstage), the german football association (DFB) and the clubs forced an total system change with better Infrastructure, resulting in a better coaching and player education. Because we didn't have had the money for stars our young talents had the chance to compete in the Bundesliga and grow as players.
It's nearly impossible to say how important this Champions League Final for Germany is. There were many downs and not many ups in the last 15years. It feels like the german football did build this sucess with it's own hands. And it's sexy to watch.
Yes. I used to dislike German football too but since 2006 they have become really fun to watch, but unfortunately so many people still remember "old" Germany and still hate them to this day.
Not only in football :D
But yeah, I agree. For many years Germany was this team that was good at headers, tackles, long distance shots and set-pieces. The players were disciplined and physically strong but the play was never technically inspiring. Somehow we always did quite well at World Championships with it but you could easily see that this would not go on for much longer. 1994 and 1998 we were crushed in the quarter finals by mid-tier opponents who just had a better team in that tournament. 2002 we reached the finals but that was pure luck of the draw.
The DFB did many things right 13 years ago. In 2000 it was decided that the DFB and all clubs will pump a lot of money into youth support and infrastructure. Now we reap the rewards with players like Neuer, Khedira, Goetze, Reus, Mueller, Draxler, Gündogan, Özil and many others.
Completely different to what happened to the Netherlands funnily enough. This Dutch team may have reached the finals of WC, but I don't think many will argue that the generation we had before this one was much much better than the current dutch side. Thankfully Feyenoord's money problems and Cruijf's revolution at Ajax have brought a lot of talent with both sides fielding lots of youth players.
Still really frustrating to see Germany play the kind of football I would have liked the Netherlands to be playing.

yeah, I still remember the time when everybody was talking about the Ajax school and all the great players it spawned. Kluivert, Bergkamp, Seedorf, the de Boer brothers...amazing players back then.

Chances are we can be champions this next weekend, but we still have to at least tie with Porto in two weeks in their homefield. And doing that is pure hell. After that it's the Europa League finals with Chelsea, I think, then last league match and Portuguese Cup finals afterwards.
We don't even need to tie with Porto, we can lose there, win the last game and we're champions. We have to make 6 points in 3 games, and the games besides the Porto one are incredibly easy.

if 1998 makes you feel old, your being exceptionally thankless..
Once, Kahn was criticized by both fans and Franz Beckenbauer (who's like a legend of Munich team, for those who don't know). Ollie finally had enough and said in a press inerview that Franz can f*ck off and the fans can kiss his ass.
During Bayern matches, fans threw bananas at him (because of the nickname 'monkey') and he would be pissed. Later, he switched to picking up bananas and pretending to eat them - which actually pissed off the fans in return.
When Bayern had dry spells, fans would wield big banners: "everyone GTFO except for our God!"
Plus he carried mediocre German team to the final of 2002 World Cup.

Always liked Kahn. I remember his insane 2002 WC where he played like some kind of action hero in goal, pulling off one spectacular save after the other. That + Chilavert 1998 are hands down the most impressive tournament performances by a goalkeeper I've ever seen.
Kahn is freaking legendary, i still remember the hype among the german team duriong WC 2002, granted i was only 12 and ofc with denmark but we went out in group stage, my 2nd country to support has always been germany. Kahn basically set the bar as goal keeper in my young years whenever we played football in the school and somebody was goalie hell now that i remember there was so many memorable goal keepers back then, kahn, barthez, casillas and ofc schmeichel ^^

When talking about that one should not forget that Kahn also singlehandedly lost this final with an unprecedented mistake. At the same time the final was Germany's best game this cup, and the only one they lost. Football is often ironic like that.
