The pundits kept saying its controversial and it'll be something to talk about and I'm split on wether that's a good thing or a bad thing Surely we should be working to eliminate this shit from the game so the correct decisions are made? It seems it's good to talk about when your team isn't involved or affected but should be eliminated when your team is Others thoughts?

And this is the second time theres been a big incident caused by Evans going in for a rash tackle in a big game, while getting the better end of a decision. Sure he didnt connect, but if were talking intent. Too bad Torres is a mega klutz now when hes made a good move or good first touch and loses his balance or something stupid. He was probably looking for it but I dont think anyone would do to much differently.

With Vidic, Jones, and Smalling all injured, Evans has to play. But those players should all come back in November, which should mean improvement in the CB selection. Cleverley I have no idea. SAF seems to have a blind spot in the midfield. For that matter, why (when he's not injured) was Kagawa being pushed out wide in the diamond, when he is a CAM? I know he has played left attacking mid sometimes, but he's clearly more comfortable in the hole. Such a lucky result today...

But notice how quick twattenburg goes to book torres, but when rooney hauls down cole, no card. Rooney quickly gets subbed after. Interesting chelsea has lodged a complaint about things clattenburg said to chelsea players, and chelsea wouldn't do that unless they felt they had a case. So lets see what develops, or gets brushed under the carpet.

If anyone is to blame then it's governing bodies for maintaining this ridiculous stance that the referee is always right, when everyone can see that they're not, often within seconds of these decisions being made. The referees are only human after all, as much as FIFA likes to insist to the contrary.

If you consider that the fairest decision must be taken every time, then complete review-able decisions are the only way to go. However if you let referees set the tempo/style of the game (like Clattenburg failed to do) then it's better to have limited access reviews.

But I wager that refs today are way better than they used to be if you go back in time. Of course it´s a bit harder for them now because the game is faster and the players are better at cheating. But more so, sensationalist media and internet make the problems seem bigger than they are. Back in the day, a fan would curse after the game and then forget about it. Now he will work himself up more and more, discussing on forums and so on. My point is, it sucks when your team is robbed, but the system is fine. There is a lot of randomness in football, with or without the ref. If you want the better team to win, they need to be that much better to overcome it. You clearly don't know the Portuguese League ![]()

not really directing this reply at anyone, just throwing it out there. stuff like wrong red carding and wrongly given penalties and wrong offside calls might just be here to stay; I really don't want it to be possible to start interjecting 15 second commercials every 5 minutes. but the goal line technology not being implemented.. is sooo stupid.

I'd argue 13v9, up from 12v10 against Liverpool. The refereeing we've been seeing lately is just tragic. I just don't understand what is going on with all these poor calls. It didn't seem to be so bad in the least, normally the big decisions were *most* the time right calls, but now the refs seems to just want to make as big headlines... Wish there was some way to adopt the American football ref system in, but like Drone said above, it'd kill the pace of the game ![]()
