Did some front squats for fun while warming up to my squats. For some reason my squats felt a lot less clunky after doing front squats. Guess I will do those to warm up more often.

Also, do you guys do any ab exercises? I personally do weighted decline crunches once in a while.

I update TLHF like once every six months. Current PRs:

HBBS: 275x3x8, 310x3
Bench: 240x5x3
Press: 147.5x5
Deadlift: 380x4
Snatch: 172.5x1x6 (six singles)
Clean and Jerk: 220x1x4 (four singles)
Deadhang pullups: 15@202lbs, 18@184lbs.
bw: 196 this morning.
I don't understand guys like Haji who have these massive squats and relatively small dl/bench numbers. I wish I was like that, feels so hard to gain squat strength and easy to gain bench/dl. I can't bench right now though, I have some sort of tear or rupture in my armpit/upper pec/short head of the bicep area. Been like that for about 8 months and flares up if I bench for more than 2 weeks or so at a time. My bench pretty much goes up just from improving pullup/ohp strength though. I use a lot of layback on my press so there's a decent amount of pec involvement.

I did daily pullups for about 10 weeks from September to November. Increased my max reps from 9 to 18 while dropping about 10lbs. I'm preparing for my 2nd oly meet and haven't done them recently, but as soon as I finish it I'm going to restart daily pullups. I followed a progression of starting at 6x6 and increasing the # of sets one week followed by the number of reps the next week, seemed to work really well. I tried max reps daily and pullup ladders and that just didn't work as well, seems like tons of sub-maximal sets is the way to go. Got the idea from here: http://strengthvillain.com/?p=295

Neil / Cecil
Age: 26 || Height: 6'3" || Weight: 195lbs
Starting Date: 01/01/12 || Goal Date: 12/31/12

Weight goals -- Stay 195, gain more muscle mass, less BF (10%)

Training goals --
Maintain M/W/F 10k run schedule while doing the following:
Include tough mudder training run every 3 months.
Do one mud run event every 2 months
Of the mud run events, 3 of them will be Tough Mudders

What is in the tough mudder training?
- 20k distance
- 35lbs of bricks in my backpack
- low crawl under wire carrying paint cans
- paint can 3k run (with backpack still)
- sandbag 2k carry (25lbs bags + backpacks still)
- bicycle 1k carry (with backpack)
- every 3k, stop and do 10 pushups then 10 burpees

Nutrition goals -- Maintain my successful diet of 1 soda every 2 weeks. Maintain limit of eating out once per week.

Sleep goals -- Make sure my sc2 streaming nights end at 11:00 so I can get my 7 hours of sleep

Misc -- Pick up the two interested sponsors for our running team:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/147321741995956/

Am I living up to these goals? I've got video proof. Here is my team at Warrior Dash 2012 Central FL. We used the GoPro Hero HD attached to my friend's head to film our run that we did yesterday. I'm the guy with the orange tough mudder headband:

Nice lifts! How long have you been working out?
Haji is coming back from an injury so he's still working his way back up to his maxes.

I need some help to define tomorrow's workout.

Should I go for front Squat/PowerClean/Clean and jerk again?

Last week I did:
Monday: Deadlift, Squat and Bench
Wednesday: Front Squat, PowerClean, Clean and Jerk
Saturday (had to skip friday): Deadlift Squat and Bench. (145kgx1, 140kgx4, 120kgx3x5, 85kgx3x5)

hulp hulp?

Since you didn't get an extra day's rest, doing technical work like that sounds like a decent idea so you can recover a bit more.
Maybe go for a heavy squat/dl session on Wed and see how it goes on Fri

Just from squats, front squats, and Deadlifts, my ab muscles are already very large; larger than they should be, IMO.

IIRC, haji has always had an irregularly strong squat. Some people are just more inclined towards certain lifts.

Well I think my squat and OHP are at max. Bench & DL are probably still on the way up.

first day back at the gym after hip injuries.

everything felt pretty good actually, but skipped DL and cleans altogether because I was afraid I might hurt my hip again.

100 kg squats really easy
60 kg press fairly easy
80 kg bench really easy

hopefully i don't fucking hurt myself again

IIRC, funkie's done more than a few months of advanced novice already. I can't recall what program he's after at the moment though.

i'm just saying, with those numbers, there is still a lot to be gained from PP or advanced novice program. probably more than from programming something yourself.

but it's his choice of course.

How messy is chalk exactly? I have been thinking about trying it out, but I work out at home and cleaning the floor is pretty much the bane of my existence.
