Sup guys. So I went to Kendrick's seminar. He teaches the lifts from the top down, it's pretty basic. Good thing is that he goes around with everyone correcting form. He told me that I'm losing kilos because I rush getting under the bar. On the clean he said I should extend more to pull the bar higher before going under. So basically yeah, as decaf said once, I'm not finishing my pull. I went for PRs on both lifts, missed 200sn and 240c&j in front of him lol. He's a pretty cool guy. Oh and there was a dude who was on the Mexican national team, 120kg snatch and 160kg c&j as a 69kg lifter, also got some tips from him.

Yeah just one day, 4 hours. Oh he also told me to flex my wrist to help keep the bar closer. God damn I just saw on his fb he went out drinking with the guys from the gym haha I should've stayed.

Very cool donkey ^_^

Here's pretty much my best snatch at 130 ever, and i was hungover as hell. I have no idea how i pulled that off. Some days the lifts just feel good ~~ also a couple misses at 140 lols. Some solid almost 2.5xbw squats by my buddy in there too.

how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

moving up to 45 kg snatches, LOL

been progressing slowly at 2.5 kg per session, I'll be happy once I reach 60 ^^

@dimsum Here's a video of some of my misses from the past weeks. The first lift I even end up on my knees from leaning forward lol and that has happened more than once. I go back and look at my 195 snatch and it looks so pretty and I try to replicate that but idk whats going on lol.

Vast majority of those misses are from not finishing your pull and leaving the bar out front. Every cm makes a difference. make sure you're stretching out the bar overhead. Try working in snatch + ohs to work on your balance and positional strength at the bottom of the hole. How wide is your grip?

Thanks decaf! I'll add those things to my programming. I've already started doing sets of five on snatch push/strict press. About my grip width, when I'm in the power position the bar sits right above my pubic bone.

@Recognizable lol sure I'll PM them to you. They're mostly old songs but they get the job done.

like decaf said, you have to finish the pull. Also you seem to shift your body forward too much which seems to put you out of position for the finish.

A good exercise to finish the pull, is hang snatch(hip, mid thigh, above knee).

Try snatch with a pause at knee and hang snatch from below knee to work on your position too.



btw does anyone read catalyst athletics? After experimenting with programming, their programming is pretty much what I found works. Basically its a mesocycle that has a linear progression every week. Week 3/4 will have a max out then start over with a new mesocycle with different reps and exercises

What do you mean works? My buddy was doing it for a while but ended up just doing the squat portion of it and programming his own for the lifts

lifts/strength go up at the end of every mesocycle. I am twisting less now, but I havent maxed out in the jerk yet.

My pulls is still pretty bad though lol

Thanks dimsum! I've done the catalyst athletics cycles a couple of times, just finished their leg strength block a couple of weeks ago with pretty good progress. Of course I'm not at the level you guys are at but they worked for me pretty well too. That cycle had a lot of squats, lots of hang triples, some powers and pulls - I was definitely lifting better when doing that than now lol.

Purchased a pair of Rogue Do-Wins about four weeks ago - already, the sole of the right shoe has started to separate at the toe. My right foot is the back foot in my jerk; could this be an indicator that I'm doing something incorrect with my feet?

Edit: just to clarify, the only reason I think this might be a factor is that with the sole slightly separated at the toe, I can feel it fold under when I hit my jerk.
