So I'm squatting about 140lbs now (not great I know but thats from just progressing from just the bar no weight)... I'm doing 3 sets of 5. I've noticed that since I increased weight on my squat and I'm up to 30-35 lb dumbells for the rest of my workout that I feel like I'm getting alot out of it. Energy levels are good. Diet is cleaned up. however I'm sticking solid at 255lbs area. Up down a lb or two a day. Depending on if I've ate or not. But its stopped coming off as far as the weight goes...

My face is slimmer, I've shed some of that type of fat, and my arms look like I've started to work out. I know that people said you would start to plataue out...but I didn't think it would happen after only losing 20 lbs... Should I be concerned?

its called body recomposition muscles weigh more than fat, so if your lifts keep improving and your weight stays the same thats a good sign of fat burning.

Yep. If the weight on the bar goes up, you're getting stronger. If the weight stays the same, you HAVE to have more muscle and less fat. Keep going champ :")

What is a good exercise for grip strength?
Deadlifting has been comparitively easy on my back because the barbell keeps sliding lower.

Also, can anyone recommend a cheap pair of weightlifting shoes?

You can always do rack deadlifts and hold at the top. Are you using mixed grip for your work sets?

Starting madcows tomorrow: How should I do the weighed sit ups? Should they be crunches with a dumbell? Should I use a sit up machine/ or a bench and hold a dumbbell?

How would you guys recommend doing the hypers? Bend back and then straighten it, or like try to heave the chest up as far as possible? Machine or just bench+dumbell?

Would REALLy appreciate a fast response, hitting gym first thing in the morning

That's how I would do them.

And fuck Hypers, I have more fun cleaning my toilet than doing Hypers, so no advice from me there.

For weighted sit-ups, hold a plate behind your head. Crunches are useless; holding weight in front of your body is useless. You can do them on a GHD bench, roman chair, decline sit-up bench, or just on the ground. It doesn't really matter. If you've never done them seriously before, start conservative. Weighted sit-ups with a large range of motion will wreck your abs.

I don't know jack about hyperextensions. Hopefully someone else can chime in, or you're on your own.
Of course, you only live one life, and you make all your mistakes, and learn what not to do, and that’s the end of you.

hold a plate or DB over/behind your head, or against chest

reverse hypers or regular back extensions?

There's generally machines for the back extensions and reverse hypers that you can use. Just plug in the name to youtube and you should be able ot see various ways of doing them

I hate fucking with programs that work that. Do you have a preference for doing them? I'm talking about reverse hypers, btw.

I really like doing them on a decline bench. Just hold a weight plate or dumbbell behind your head if you can do like 5x10 and work up from there.

Reverse hypers are a pretty good rehab movement IMO, and build some good back strength.

You don't have to use them though, depending on what kind of assistance work you want to target

My wrist hurts after doing exercises like the tuck planche, pushup, or a handstand. Is that just because my wrists are too weak and will strengthen over time?

If this is better suited in the injuries thread then let me know and I'll make the full post, but I figured this was pretty minor and specific.

Be sure to follow ehlows link in his answer.

I had the same problem with my wrists at the start. It almost got really bad so i cut one hold out of my programm an i just became strong enough to do dips so I did those instead of pushups.
I feel dips are way easyer on the wrists.

Nowadays my wrists only hurt with very high volume.

my neck is really stiff and hurts a lot when i turn it - skipped last set of OHP today cuz first two sets made it a lot worse. I'm not even sure if this was caused by working out but what is it and how do i fix it?
