But you should get a powerrack, a flat bench, a good 45pounds olympic bar and approx 400pounds in weight. Much more useful, and cheaper.

Any reason you cant just buy a gym membership instead of dropping $1200 on a home gym? Would be less than 1/3 of the cost.

I suffer of severe anxiety and partial agoraphobia + some other thing that makes me feel kind of uncomfortable when i'm with strangers, so gym is a big no for me that's why i was looking to buy a multistation to gain some muscle weight ;o

Grab:

A squat rack
An olympic barbell with 300+ lbs of weights
a bench, with an adjustable back if you want

For about $300-400 bucks off craigslist

Squat rack can also be used for pullups and whatnot.

All you need.

What weight should I be aiming to get to? I'm down to 106 right now, which is lower than I have been previously. And darnit, it's the holiday season .................

Anyways, with a small frame and 5'4" what would be a reasonable target weight for 6 months.

Just a note, the lowest I've seen all of these stuff go in total on Canadian sites is maybe $600 if you buy a separate squat rack & bench.

Squatting mainly,

you should consider reading this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=261928

There is loads of information about physical training in there.

Yeah it's used for squats and overhead presses.
Starting Strength, which is the go-to program for beginners has you do squat, deadlift, press, bench, and power cleans (chin-ups optional) so you need a squat rack to do the program.

If you can do these squat, deadlift, press, bench, and power cleans then your set for working out at home.

Hello TL,
i've been looking to buy a multistation to gain some muscle for about a year now, i had found the BodySolid G5S that looked really nice and felt like it could be the best one for me but however the price doesnt seem to go down here at the place where we can buy it, but yesterday i found another one that isn't really similar but it's almost half of the price of the other and it could fit my budget way better, so i need help knowing if it's good or not.

Been sick the past 3 days. Lost 4kg and am now down to 64, I think that's pretty horrible.
Just asking - Is the weight lost from being sick normally from muscle or fat? Or is it another source (water content etc.).
I had stomach flu, if that matters.

It's mostly water, maybe some fat/muscle too since people tend to not eat as much when they're ill, but not much.
I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.

I have a question about ankle and wrist weights. I've been thinking about getting them for some time but I've heard that they can cause some knee (joints) injury.
I would be using them for normal daily activities (like going shopping to town) aswell for running, rope-jumping.
So would anyone really recommend them? or are they more troubles than benefits?

edit: plus maybe a weight body-vest... starting at like 0,5-1kg wrist, 1-2kg ankles, 5-10kg body vest.

Muscle and fat and water weight.

Take your vitamin D.

Don't do that.

It messes with your movement mechanics and can lean to injury.

Hey guys,

Going to start SS in the following weeks after im back from Iceland. Few questions if you don't mind:
Im currently 5.8" and weight is around 9 stone (130 pounds ish), I was a very active person, did tonnes of sport but never managed to put any weight on at all. I eat as much as many of my 16 stone friends (not just crap food) and i still find it VERY hard to put weight on. Any ideas on this?

Also i used to play Tennis a hell of a lot, and therefore have one arm stronger than the other, will this effect lifting at all? If so, anything i can do about it?
This also bring across another problem, I've had many problems with my shoulder from Tennis before (Tears/Damages), so is it safe to just get right into weight lifting? This was a main reason i stopped playing in the first place, due to semi-constant injury.

Sorry for the beginner questions, I did check loads of the topics before asking.

Many thanks
Rixxe.

Putting on weight...... eat every meal 'til you feel sick.

Or GOMAD -- gallon of (whole) milk a day

Yes, it can affect lifting. If you have gross differences may want to start with DBs... only use weight that your weaker arm can do

Proper weight training should improve your arm function, not make it worse.

Quick question: Whey Protein shake after workout, yay or nay? That's a glass of milk + 24 grams of protein in a 120 calorie scoop. That's gotta be good for you right? I also quite like the taste of this one I found (Gold Standard) and if you all think it would be helpful, I can afford it.

Cheers!
