Then went on to do some bench and weighted pullups. Hadn't done weighted pullups in 6+ months.

I think I can make it on friday though. Went on to OHP straight after and I swear the first 2 sets were harder than the rest because I was just so gassed from squats. Then did 90kg 1x5 deadlifts, wasn't too bad at all. My 1rm a month and a half ago was 100kg, I think I'll be able to go up to at least 110, if not 120.@Alv, I used to have the most girly soft hands, now I'm happy I've got nice thick rough calluses on them, way more manly ![]()

however i'm inclined to think you'd get stronger (all else being equal) on SS's 3x5. but hey, whatever floats your boat ![]()

I prefer SS over stronglifts as well, mainly because it has power cleans!!

I come here because some of you guys seem to know what you're talking about. I'm very skinny, like most nerds. I am 5,8feet 134 pounds (1,79 meters, 61 kilos). As far as blood test and check-ups go, I'm perfectly fine, doctors seem to believe it's just the way I am. Is there any special training I could use, any specific food or technics to put some meat on my bones ? Could someone guide me to a beginners' guide because some discussions here are very high level and I'm just looking for getting in good shape, not lifting 10000lbs.

Do SS (starting strenght) as described in the OP. It is basicly designed for guys like you Also, get the book.

the only way to gain weight is through diet. if you want put on weight, you have to eat a ton of food. simple as that. and to make sure what you gain is not pure fat (because who wants that!) you have to do some sort of lifting program so you gain muscle instead of fat. you should REALLY consider doing starting strength or stronglifts 5x5 (both in the op). actually strike that: you absolutely SHOULD do it!

@yejin: as it says in the OP, one of the best programs for muscle mass and strength (exactly what you want, it seems) that a beginner can do is Starting Strength. There's plenty of documentation there that you can read that should answer any questions you have, but the basic gist of it is: Lift heavy, eat lots -> Get big I'm 6' and weighed 55kg before I started lifting weights, putting weight on has always been difficult for me. But as long as you eat lots of food it can be done. The thing is, if you're eating a lot but not working out it's likely you'll put that weight on as fat and not muscle, which is not something you want. Because I find it so hard to eat enough food to gain weight I'm getting some maltodextrin to add to my protein shakes, but you don't really need to think about that kind of thing until you're got your routine and diet under control
