When I was doing SS, I kinda knew what to expect every training session and my results were usually pretty close. That's more or less normal. When dealing with highly technical exercises if you can't hit them with good technique at the weight you're at for the day it's best to back off the weight and try to work on your form a lot.... basically skill work instead. If you try to force training when your technique is bad at a certain weight that's only going to hinder your progress.

So it's not really an atkins diet but it bears resemblance... http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_diet_mass/eat_like_a_man_part_i_test_driving_the_anabolic_diet would like to get some opinions on this to see whether I should support him or tell him to back off the idea. He is a medium growth boxer/bodybuilder who has put on some good weight and muscle so far. It's legit. And atkins is legit too except ketogenic style diets should only be used through phases. It takes about 2-4 weeks to adapt and you get good weight loss through anywhere about 6-12 months or so but afterwards you need to cycle back to high carbs because the body adapts. Basically, anabolic diet attempts to cycle carbs weekly (or biweekly.. can't remember exactly) to keep the weight loss coming. As far as weight loss is concerned it's a legitimate diet that I would recommend just like Paleo

Some days you're just ON FIRE and you won't miss a lift and have to double check the weight cause 300 is feeling a lot more like 100. And then there will be days I miss cleans at 100 and 70% lifts will drain the life out of me. I'll usually switch to squats at that point because I know I can do those ![]() ![]()

Oh god, the stress. I don't think I can ever remember being so stressed before. The med school entrance exams were a piece of cake compared to this. I literally had to force some food into me before I left home. Then I show up, weigh in at around 95kg (placed comfortable in the -105kg category lol) and meet up with buddies I knew from the gym. And suddenly all nervousness was gone. Just to be able to be there, on a viking festival felt awesome ![]() First event was the Conan's Wheel. It was loaded up with 2 women (about 140kg in total added weight) and then it was just to pick it up and walk as far as you could do. I managed about 25meters. Second event was the Farmer's Walk. 100kg in each arm, 32m course with a little incline in the end. Then you had to walk back. I think I dropped the handles 4 or 5 times but the incline at the end was too much for me and I again got about 25meters. Third event was the Circus Dumbbell, weighing a whooping 68kgs!! I got it up to my shoulder but there was no way I could press it. Fourth and final event was the Atlas Stones, an event I had loooked forward to. I had been told in advance that it was going to be 125kgs for reps which was totally doable for me and I was hoping to pick up some lost points there. But they had changed it to 135kg <.< I gave it all I got and just barely missed it! All in all an awesome experience and although I didn't place high I was very happy with my performance ^^ Last but def. not least: Congratulations Anabolic!!!

It has a strength rep range and a hypertrophy rep range. What do you mean? Off the top of my head, there is at least 80-90+ reps, with 30/45 of these being in the "strength" (5 reps) range. I can check the exact number for you if you would like. Edit: Congrats on participating in the meet sJ :D I'm sure you'll do better next time with more training man.

Well, it depends on what you're looking for in a job really. It pays OK for being a doctorate program nowadays. you get to work with similar people frequently (if outpatient orthopedic) or conserversely if in hospital you can see a lot of different people with a lot of different things. Overall, if you like helping people get back to their lives and the challenge of figuring out what is wrong (functionally) and planning out programs to help them get back it would be a good career. It's kinda like being a personal trainer except you tend to work with more injured populations and would probably make a better salary than most personal trainers (unless they were top ones). I like it but school is a bummer in general. I'm ready to learn what I need to learn and get out so i can start practicing.

![]() And what better time to start a new programm after a deloading week. Therefore, I decided to max out on squat and deadlift today: squat: 190x1 200x1 205x1 210x1 215x1 and 220kgx1 (150x6 afterwards) Bench: 80kg 5-5-5 (still easy) deadlift: 210x1 220kgx1 and finally failed 227,5kg, which would have been 502lb. Maybe I am maxing out on overhead press tomorrow if I find the time. So next week is gonna be deload. Then I will start with Texas Method and work my way up to my actual 5RMs within four weeks, to acclimate myself with the new programm. So I won't hit new PRs for the next six weeks. Final SS numbers (5RM): Squat: 185kg Press: 78,5kg Deadlift: 190kg BO-Row: 91kg (stopped 2 weeks ago) Bench: 80kg (obviously not my max, didn't bench much because of my shoulder injury) Power Clean: 72,5kg (3RM, also not my max, since I only started two weeks ago) Starting Strength log + Show Spoiler +
All in all, I never expected the past four months to be that productive. @sjarl: Strongman sounds awesome, keep going if you want to become a real viking. @decaf: if you can squat more than me, I may hurt you... which will be hard since you are stronger than me. But I can try.
