omg do not pollute this great thread with sc2 talk!!!!!!!!!!!
btw awesome axle lift sjarl, that looks so hard. btw what is considered a press in strongman? I watched some wsm videos before and they seem to interchange press and jerk as the same thing.
@decaf yeah I qualified last december. I didnt compete this year yet lol. I have been using deadlifts in my workouts, and my pull feels so much easier now.

Can you guys please stay on topic. There are plenty of threads about MLG and TLHF moves fast enough as it is.
|
Sorry about that, just very exciting
@DimSum: It is the same. Just as long as you get it over head and keep it steady there then you are good. The hardest part is the "clean" since you baaaarely get your fingers all around the bar.
Need to work on my regular clean/jerk and snatch form in order to get it higher.

Lol none? injuries or what not? And for deadlifts are you doing regular dead lifts basically the first pull in the lift?
|
Yeah I have been doing regular deadlifts after my workouts once or twice a week. High reps (around 8-10) I really try to rip it off the floor, so my pull speed will get better.
I have not competed because of injuries and school. I might not be able to go to nationals since I am applying for internships right now. I have an interview tomorrow.

Bench moved up to 185x6,195x6,205x6,215x4! My goal of repping 2 plates 6 times seems within reach, though my gains here seem to be decelerating
Squat dramatically rising since I introduced it into my workout; just did 165x5,185x6,205x6
Also doing more cardio now -- at least 3 days a week, sometimes after lifting and sometimes on its own day (today I jogged/walked for an hour around a local park (approx 3 miles). It was supposed to be 30 minutes but I got lost lol)
Question: are sitting military press with a bar and overhead press considered the same? Also, is it cheating if there's a space between your lower back and the seat? My back automatically arches and it takes significant effort to not arch it.

My back automatically arches and it takes significant effort to not arch it. An "overhead press" or just a "press" is typically done standing. It's okay if there is some arch in your back but you want to keep your abs tight so your back doesn't arch (sway) too much. The bar should move in as straight a line as possible up and down. To accomplish this raise it as close to your face as you can and move your head forward as the bar clears it.
There's a good Youtube video of Rippetoe explaining the press.

Decaf you ever been on that der goody good? If you don't feel like answering ITT then just message me lols, cause I wanna know if it's possible to achieve your physique natty, (nohomo)

I spent the whole day trying to do handstands.
I do it towards the wall, and I try to flip myself up so that my back faces the wall. I probably tried 20-30 times today, and it was actually a lot of fun. Now I can kind of do it with no feet touching the wall, for 3-5 seconds.
I've also had some epic epic falls though.

Are you referring to steroids? If so, absolutely not. Just a healthy dose of squatting and meat.

Decaf's naturally a baller lifter, and is lucky enough to have amazing recovery ability, regardless of how much he drinks/doesn't sleep/overtaxes his body with rugby and oly lifting. Pretty sure he's a bit older than you too, and he's been lifting/playing rugby a long time. Put in the time and the work, and you can get there. Now go smash 4,000 calories per day and throw twice your body weight over your head on a regular basis. K?
On that note, I'm counting calories again. I haven't done this seriously in like two months, but I guess it's time now. It's 1:30 AM, and here I am cooking up some chicken breasts because I spent all day watching MLG, and I'm out of milk/frozen things.
MLG was awesome though. So worth it.

If you're really nervous about it, start with the Headstand (http://www.beastskills.com/tutorials/tutorials/34) then move on to the handstand (http://www.beastskills.com/tutorials/tutorials/33). Also really worth learning how to fall out of them properly - but that's covered in the handstand tutorial too. There's also one on that site for handstand pushups if you get to that point.

Looking to go for a cut over the summer, but I still want to progress a bit on my lifts. I plan on adding some sprints and bodyweight stuff throughout the week, anyone have advice on a good workout? I was on madcow's 5x5 before, but I don't know if there's enough break if I want to do stuff on the offdays. I want to add about 30 pounds to my squat, 20 pounds to bench, and a bit more to my DL.

I'm about 180 pounds and according to internet factz I need a 18 calorie per pound so that's around 3240. Cutting 500 calorie to 3240 within fasting is a good goal or is it too much ? I'm not looking to shed muscles and would like some smaller progress. I'd start with 3000 First. -250 is the first step I've seen many take. After a week or so and your weight plateaus, I would move down to 2740 or whatever it is. Edit: Just personal opinion though. Edit: Nice job sJ. Next sig = 200 kg push press on the way!
Do you guys take 10 g bcaa or the recommended amount specified on the container? Cause it sure seems like a lot relative to the 2g that my danish product recommends.
